Madden May Return To Nintendo With Switch 2, EA CEO Hints
Andrew Wilson also noted the EA Sports FC franchise as a possibility for the recently revealed system.
Are you ready for some football on Switch 2? After skipping the entire Switch generation, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has hinted that the Madden NFL series could return to Nintendo for the upcoming console. The last time an entry in the sports franchise released on a Nintendo platform was Madden NFL 13 on Wii and Wii U in 2012.
Wilson was found name-dropping the Madden and EA Sports FC franchises for Switch 2 during an earnings call earlier this week. "... Any time a new console comes into the marketplace, that's of a benefit to us," said Wilson. "It gives us the ability to access and acquire new players. Typically, we've had franchises perform very well on Nintendo platforms. Certainly, our expectation is that products like [EA Sports] FC and Madden and others might find real energy on the platform as they have done in the past."

The EA Sports FC franchise--formerly bearing the FIFA title--has been a mainstay on Switch. The latest release was EA Sports FC 25 this past September. However, the soccer games released on Switch have been heavily criticized. Meanwhile, Madden has been a complete no-show. Overall, EA has been selective with support for Switch, with games like My Sims: Cozy Bundle, It Takes Two, and Apex Legends coming to the console over the years. Looking ahead, EA just teased the next entry in the Battlefield series while also introducing the community-testing program Battlefield Labs. There's been no mention of a Switch 2 release for it, though.
Nintendo finally unveiled Switch 2 last month, showing off magnetic Joy-Cons and an apparently new Mario Kart game. A more in-depth look at the upcoming hybrid system is set for April with a Nintendo Direct.
