Kojima explains which version of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes you should buy

Series creator Hideo Kojima explains who should buy the PS3/Xbox 360 version and who should buy the PS4/Xbox One version.

Should you buy the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes or the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version? Series creator Hideo Kojima weighed in on Twitter today.

"I've been asked which ver u should buy. The feel of play & impression's similar as it's been made multiplatform/multigen this time. Sense of realism & graphics looks much better in next gen. So I'd say current-gen for those who can't buy next gen just yet & upgrade later."

"FYI, the world ranking of mission result/trial grade in GZ differs to each platform. The feel of play/difficulty levels are the same as we consider slight difference parts found in each hardware, controls or frame rate."

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, launches on March 18, 2014. The game will be available to download on PS4 or Xbox One, or in stores for PS3 or Xbox 360 for $30. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can download the game for $20.

Ground Zeroes runs on the Fox Engine and features a day/night cycle, as well as dynamic weather conditions that affect gameplay. Missions are designed to help players understand the game's new control and gameplay mechanics.

I'm still trying to figure out what's the difference between Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain. I know Ground Zeroes is a prologue but is it more linear than Phantom Pain? Is one Free Roam and not the other? Does each game have the same Snake? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEE!

@MariJoe007 GZ won't have full-weather effects if I remember correctly. It's likely just 5-10% of what PP will offer. PP will offer Fulltime weather and day/night cycles naturally. I'd think GZ could be compared to Peacewalker more than it can relate to PP's goals. GZ likely is Peacewalker styled missions that are branched out and more open for multiple approaches, but amongst the limits of say, like, this being on an island and a fort in the center. Many approaches, but stuck within those boundaries whilst PP is like....you spawn outside a village, travel to it on horse, then perhaps have to reach another village on the opposite-end for a helicopter rescue.

GZ will offer its primary Main-op, some side-ops (If not 4-5 if that doesn't change). Moderate base management that's comparable to Peace Walkerand recruitment, which would also include R&D like Peacewalker....everything else, I am unsure.

As for Same Snake?....it should, but, Conspiracies are abound and we'll never know whats in Kojimas head until we really finish the game.

Kojima sold out to Microbribe... he tells us to buy it for the massive installed base of PS3 and Xbroke players, then buy it again when they get either a PS4 or XBoner. He sold out.

LOL, Kojima is the next Confucius. Those who can buy the next gen, should buy the next gen... Those who can't... shouldn't. That's some deep stuff right there. Why did they only make one article about this? They should make a different article for each console!

Hmm, let's decrypt this riddle about MGS5. "Who should play what"... Okay, those who have the bucks they should play the Xbox One/PS4, the others will play previous gen versions.

This is old news. I guess it's just trolling on Kojima's part. Captain obvious has never been more obvious.

I remember Kojima saying he struggled to fit his true vision for MGS4 on a Blu-Ray disc, and so a 360 port would require 6 discs to fit all the content. Yet here we have MGS5; works fine on the 360.

Either Kojima isn't out to create as ambitious a project as MGS4 was or perhaps we'll be getting a bit of 'multiple disc installation' action on the 360 version :/

<< LINK REMOVED >> You can't forget that MGS5: Ground Zeroes will probably a much smaller game than MGS4 was, since, as said, it's a prolouge to Phantom Paine, that's probable the main reason that now X360 can have the new MGS

<< LINK REMOVED >> I think the only reason why FOX engine is supported on the PC is so that Hideo Kojima can sell it to other developers as a viable alternative to the Unreal Engine, which could definitely use some competition.

That said though, it'd be nice to see a PC version, seeing that Metal Gear Rising's port was met with reasonable success

@Securator Get ready to leave this habit behind as we enter next-gen. Discs are becoming extinct. Digital is the future. I'm not happy too, I'm just preparing you.

Yeah, youre right. Everyone keeps telling me this. Also digital does offer more when you compare it to discs. The immense Ps store, ps plus and timely discounts and what not. Guess its time to fill out those shelves with something else....game artbooks maybe.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Yes. There will ALWAYS be a demand for the physical media. What if the time came when video game consoles were obsolete -- you just plugged a receiver for a wireless controller into your TV, connected to the internet, streamed the games you paid $60 for? Would that sound ideal versus the conventional method? Of course not.

<< LINK REMOVED >>No leave it be. The digital version has no value. The hard copy will always be better. And yes, looking at a whole library on a shelf is better than icons. No Discs are not going out, They are doing as well as ever.

<< LINK REMOVED >> When you make a game you base it off the weakest console, in this case it's the Xbox 360. So until they make a game that doesn't have a previous gen console in the mix you probably won't see to much improvement. It's just not good business to tweak the game to look better or worse on different consoles. It's easier and cheaper to just make it work on the weakest and to know that if it works on the weakest the others will handle it just fine if not at a better frame rate than the weakest.

So the better the console, the better the frame rate, the smoother it will look, but the textures and stuff will probably be identical on all consoles.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Exactly why I keep telling people that hardware is pointless. If you buy a game that is on xbox and ps4 it's going to look identical on both consoles. If you say otherwise your simply just searching for justification.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get the next MG, but I'll wait till both are packed together for $60, $70 if they offer some dlc codes. If they announce a separate epilogue later on I won't be getting them at all, it's the principle of the thing.
