Sony has released a new trailer showing off the upcoming Intercept DLC for Killzone: Shadow Fall, and announced a release date of June 24 for the new content.
As teased and then announced last month, Intercept adds a new cooperative mode of the same name for up to four players. Each player can choose from one of four classes--Assault, Marksman, Tactician, or Medic--and make use of its unique abilities to support the team against AI opponents.
The DLC also brings jetpacks to Shadow Fall for the first time. According to a PlayStation Blog post, Petrusite capacitors will randomly spawn around the map, and by retrieving them, you can unlock various bonuses for you and your team. These bonuses can involve things directly related to objectives, like recapturing enemy-controlled terminals, or grant you and your team access to miniguns, mortar strikes, and jetpacks.
Season Pass owners will get access to Intercept for free when it's released on June 24. Alternatively, you can purchase the DLC on its own if you already own Shadow Fall. Those without a copy of the game can wait until later this year when the Intercept mode is released as a standalone game.
Shadow Fall was released alongside the PlayStation 4 last November, earning a 7 in GameSpot's review. Developer Guerrilla Games has released a number of DLC packs containing new content for the game's competitive multiplayer mode free of charge in the ensuing months. And although its player base has shrunk over time, Guerrilla expects it to see an influx of players with the launch of Intercept.
