The unnamed sources have said the sequel will be announced soon and is aiming for release in March 2017.

No Caption Provided

As of yet, neither developer NetherRealm nor publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have teased plans for Injustice: Gods Among Us 2. GameSpot has contacted Warner Bros. for a statement.

The first Injustice: Gods Among Us was released in April 2013, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. An Ultimate Edition featuring improved visuals and all post-release downloadable content was later launched for PS4 and Xbox One.

Injustice takes place in an alternate universe where Joker unleashes a nuclear bomb on Metropolis and tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and his son. In response, Superman establishes himself as High Councillor of a World Government and begins a dictatorship. Batman leads a group of rebel forces and the heroes and villains of the DC Universe are forced to take sides.

The video game spawned a successful, critically acclaimed comic book series, which is scheduled to end this year. An Injustice mobile game was also released for iOS and Android.

The last game NetherRealm released was Mortal Kombat X. As with Injustice, an updated version of this called Mortal Kombat XL was released for PS4 and PC.

The Injustice prequel comic series is really good. It's great even if you haven't played the game.

XL is for PS4 and Xbox One... not PC... that's what all us PC players has been screaming about.

The PC platform is incredibly neglected by netherrealm and Warner

MK9 > MK9 Komplete > Injustice > Injustice Ultimate > MKX > MKXL > Injustice 2 > Injustice 2 Ultimate > MK11

etc. etc.

Hopefully they tone down the environmental stuff to more MKX levels and do away with the "clash" system please.

As a DC fan, (same for Marvel) they better add more characters and not the same ass Batman family this time around cause the last Injustice game, there were just way too many Batman characters universe and none other characters like Supergirl, Cheetah, ect, so please WB/Ed Boon, more variety of characters this time around. Totally looking forward to yet another fighting game to add on my PS4.

Characters I want to see in Injustice 2:

Atrocitus, Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, Black Manta, Braniac, Captain Cold, Circe, Darkseid, Doctor Fate, Gorrilla Grodd, Red Tornado, Scarecrow, Starfire, Star Sapphire, Supergirl, and Static.

@davillain-: DC needs to create a demand for these characters first. Marvel has been doing a great job getting their obscure characters into the spotlight. Your average video game buyer wouldn't have any idea who Atrocitus, Doctor Fate, or Red Tornado are. I read comics (mostly Marvel and Batman) and i don't even know who they are.

I think the new DC TV shows that have debuted since the first Injustice will help get characters like Supergirl and Captain Cold in there.

@davillain-: Wether it's in games, movies or specially comics, i always found myself leaning towards stories where Batman is on his own. All the sidekicks family, multiple Robins, Batgirl and so on, it's kinda overdone. On Mortal Kombat X they changed half of the cast, so maybe there's hope.

@mikeskullx14: I think they confused Injustice and Mortal Kombat XL, Mortal Kombat XL did release on the X1, Injustice didn't.
