IGC '03 speakers

Industry vets at this year's Indie Games Con address online gaming, multiplayer communities, and niche opportunities.

Oregon-based publisher GarageGames today announced their speaker roster for the Indie Games Con '03, which will feature more than 25 sessions. The event will take place in Eugene, Oregon.

There are five session tracks: Technical, Artist, Tools & Techniques, Business, and, new this year, a Peer-2-Peer track that covers independent game rollouts and postmortems.

On the topic of online gaming, speakers will include John Welch, Shockwave's VP of games and product development; David Nixon, RealArcade's game production group manager; and Ron Powers, GameHouse's director of business development. Bill Linn, of Linn Strategies, will discuss public relations for independent gamemakers.

Joining IGC from the UK, and speaking on AI, is Phil Carlisle, who will offer a postmortem on Worms and Worms 3D. Other speakers include representatives from the following outfits: 21-6 Productions, Arena Unlimited, BraveTree Productions, DavidRM Software, GarageGames, Midnight Ryder Technologies, Max Gaming, and O'Reilly Publishing.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Jeff Tunnell, GarageGames president and co-founder.

The cost for online registration before September 19 is $150, and after September 19 registration is $195. The conference's three-day pass offers sessions, food, parties, and a T-shirt. Other events include a ShowOFF Center, where teams can get feedback on their games, the Indie Jam '03, the IGC People's Choice Awards, and a LAN party. Space is limited, and reservations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information go to the event's site.
