How To Watch The Resident Evil Village Showcase Today

Capcom will give us a first-look at Resident Evil Village gameplay during today's Resident Evil Showcase stream, scheduled for Thursday, January 21 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT. The event promises a "guided tour" of the upcoming Resident Evil sequel, a brand new trailer, and "lots more" news about the franchise. We also expect to hear about a new project called Resident Evil Re:Verse, which leaked ahead of today's stream and may be tied to the Resident Evil multiplayer mode fans have been speculating about. Here's where and when you can watch today's stream.

How to watch the Resident Evil Village Showcase

The Resident Evil Showcase stream is scheduled for 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT on Thursday, January 21. That's today! It will be hosted by Brittney Brombacher of the What's Good Games podcast series. The stream is embedded below, so you can watch the whole thing right here!

Now Playing: Resident Evil 8: Village – "Welcome To The Village" Developer Insights

Resident Evil Village, which is a direct follow-up to Resident Evil 7, is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. According to a Tokyo Game Show stream, Capcom is also working on bringing Resident Evil Village to PS4 and Xbox One, but has made no concrete promises about either platform. Hopefully fans will find out more today.

We also know that Resident Evil Village will have almost no load times on PS5, and it will support 4K with ray tracing. It provides more freedom in how you play.

As for the wider Resident Evil series, the new Resident Evil movie reboot starring Pirates of the Caribbean's Kaya Scodelario has finished filming. A Resident Evil TV series for Netflix is also in the works, so it's possible we might learn more about either project during the show.

Third person, over the shoulder shots, are more immersive in my opinion because it gives you a better sense of the character you are playing and the effects of the clothes and environment you are in. It's hard to really feel like you are in the game in first person when you can't see your own body in your peripheral vision like you can in everyday life. Third person makes for a good compromise between real life body and virtual body.

@datameister: Over the shoulder third person shooters are still first person games from a simulational standpoint, Data. The biggest problem with their approach is the streamlining of the control system for accessibility. You can manage highly expressive movement with skull bound cameras, but it comes at the risk of alienating too many people. So, given the ignoble nature of the perspective switch, I have to agree with you.

LOL. Is Sony going to pay for a plug about their SSD for every freaking game now? "It has almost no load times on PS5". Pretty sure it's the same for Xbox and PC....

@restatbonfire: Yeah, the Facebook thing is my only complaint. Otherwise, it's a seriously awesome unit. The controllers are ultra precise, (can even detect individual finger movement), the resolution is leagues better than the PSVR, it's super light and comfy, and the library of titles are great and varied. And of course, zero tethers or wires keep you fully immersed.

This looks impressive as hell. Absolutely stunning graphics and atmosphere. The detail and set pieces are gorgeous. If this is what the next gen is bringing, count me in. Hopefully the game play is as good as this looks, but RE is like pizza. Even when it's bad it's good.

@undeadzombie: well, is not like him/her carry lots of stuff only a few guns and ammo and unless the enemies are dead slow like zombie, then it really doesn't matter.

like "operation raccoon city", those character didn't need to sprint like crazy.

@undeadzombie: ethan is average male adult human, i see average male adult run faster than what it's show in re7 and it's not like ethan is carry lot of items on him.

plus, a average adult human could out run a cop too.

@sparent180: in the main game, you can't ads to see your iron sights, is more like similar to goldeneye and perfect dark on the n64 but the whole screen turns when you moving the right stick/mouse around. only the "not a hero" dlc when you play as chris redfield, you could ads and see the iron sight and optics like any 1st person shooter does.
