Eidos has announced that its stealth-oriented action game, Hitman 2, is being developed for the the Xbox in addition to the PlayStation 2 and the PC. Players will once again assume the role of Agent 47 as he starts his mission in a Sicilian monastery, where he quickly finds that he is now being hunted. Hitman 2 features a number of improvements upon its predecessor, including the option to select between third-person and first-person modes, midmission saves, a revamped inventory system, and more.

"The Hitman 2 team is building on the original Hitman in order to develop a stylish game built from the ground up for the advanced video game consoles," says Janos Flosser, managing director of Io Interactive. "Hitman 2's incredibly intensive gameplay and in-depth character interaction makes for an incredible third-person-based gaming experience."

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is scheduled for release in the fall.
