GTA 6 Dev Teases "Mind-Blowing Things"

The open-world action game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025 with a huge amount of hype behind it.

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI took home the "Most Wanted Game" award at the Golden Joysticks this week, and in an acceptance speech, a developer teased "absolutely mind-blowing things" to come from the game.

"There's an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things so it's a real honor to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone's behalf," the developer said (via Rockstar Intel).

GTA 6 winning the award for most-anticipated upcoming game is no surprise at all given the incredible amount of hype surrounding the game, which is set for release in Fall 2025. GTA 6 is also nominated for the Most Anticipated award at December's The Game Awards.

The Golden Joystick's overall Game of the Year award, called the Ultimate Game of the Year, was given to Game Science's Black Myth: Wukong while Team Asobi won Studio of the Year for Astro Bot.

GTA 6 is set in Vice City, which is a stand-in for Miami, Florida. Its first trailer was released in early December 2023, and to date, Rockstar Games has not released any additional footage or official details about the game.

GTA 6 has enormous shoes to fill, as GTA V--which was originally released in 2013--has sold an astonishing 205 million copies. Its GTA Online mode, meanwhile, earns money from its microtransactions, which have proven to be lucrative. It remains to be seen what could happen to GTA Online when GTA 6 releases, but keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

didn't watch the video, could barely hear it so i just stopped it. but what was actually said ? or even printed in the article that is mind -blowing???? i've seen not one single thing said. and there's no way they spoke of mind-blowing stuff in an 1 minute 11 second video. !!

@guudgidga: All I ask is that it keeps being corny and funny! Do that, and you have my support.

Mind blowing would be a GTA game that is interesting to play for more than few hours.

They probably mean something mind blowing like “paying real money in strip clubs, viewing movies in the theater and for gambling etc”

Things like clunky character control and combat, tapping a button repeatedly to sprint in 2025?

@bakula: There was already a big difference between GTA 4 and 5, with making the controls and combat more responsive. I'd expect a similar evolution in the next game

@bakula: personally i like the weight characters in rockstar games have and tapping a button to run emulates the strain of actually sprinting so i say gimme more of it

Fingers crossed it will deliver! In particular I hope the gameplay feel a bit snappier and more fun. I know the world will be incredible and that will make the game worth getting regardless. But good feeling gameplay would take it to the next level for me.
