Get Ready to Go Warlording Again
Darklords Rising from Red Orb and Strategic Studies Group is coming this summer.
The Strategic Studies Group (SSG) and Red Orb Entertainment have announced that they are building upon the success of Warlords III: Reign of Heroes and will release a sequel of sorts, Warlords III: Darklords Rising, in August.
One thousand years after Reign of Heroes, Lords Bane and Sartek, and the Dark Horsemen of Death and War, return to Selentine. This time around Darklords Rising will feature 38 campaign scenarios, 12 individual scenarios, five new heroes, 30 new units, ten new spells, ten new abilities, an enhanced AI, new editors, and seven new types of multiplayer games, like Capture the Flag and North versus South.
"After talking to the many thousands of Warlords III: Reign of Heroes fans, SSG wanted to do much more than an add-on pack with the next Warlords product," said Gregor Whiley, producer for SSG. "In addition to having a great engine, we redesigned Warlords III to support new multiplayer games, greatly enhanced the artificial intelligence, and designed game-specific AI for each of the new game types. We've also included a much-requested game and map editor."
"Following last year's commercial and critical success with Warlords III: Reign of Heroes, we wanted to build on what made the game a hit," said Ken Goldstein, Broderbund vice president of entertainment and general manager of Red Orb Entertainment. "SSG and Red Orb Entertainment agreed we wanted to make a game that would give the Warlords fans everything they could want."
