Gas Powered Games fuels Demigod
February cover of Games for Windows confirms Supreme Commander developer's genre-bending action strategy RTS arriving in fall 2008.
One of the more popular user-created game mods for Blizzard Entertainment's fantasy-themed real-time strategy game Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne was Defense of the Ancients, more commonly known as DotA. In it, players control either a good or evil hero character from the Warcraft universe and, through a combination of action, strategy, and item collecting, attempt to destroy their opponent's base while fending off waves of computer-controlled enemies.

The game mod's unique hybridization of several different genres is apparently the inspiration for Supreme Commander developer Gas Powered Games' recently announced title Demigod.
According to the February edition of Games for Windows--which is being teased online via 1up--Demigod is set in a far-future fantasy world in which players seek to carve out a seat for themselves in the game's pantheon of deities. As with DotA, the game reportedly emphasizes multiplayer cooperative and competitive action, though it will also incorporate a single-player mode.
Aside from the PC, no other platforms have been announced for Demigod, which is currently slated to arrive in fall 2008.
