From Software Has Two New Games Planned For Release After Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Let the Bloodborne 2 speculation begin.

From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that the developer is currently working on two unannounced games. Whether both are sequels to existing series or the start to brand-new franchises has yet to be revealed.

Miyazaki made the announcement during an interview with 4Gamer.net, which was translated by Gematsu. "While it isn't the time to discuss details, they're both [From Software]-esque games," Miyazaki said. "We'll need a little more time, but we'll be able to tell everyone more about them once they take shape."

Now Playing: Is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice More Difficult Than Dark Souls?

Back in June 2016, From Software revealed it had new games scheduled for the future. The first turned out to be Deracine with the second being the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Based on the phrasing for the new games, it's probably safe to assume the two unannounced titles are closer in length and scope to Sekiro as opposed to Deracine. Miyazaki added that both Dark Souls Remastered and Metal Wolf Chaos XD were not included in this original projection, and that the unannounced games are brand-new titles and not remasters.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is From Software's next game, coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 22. It's Matt Espineli's most anticipated game for 2019, largely for its setting and fast-paced mechanics. Sekiro leaves behind the medieval castles of Dark Souls III and Victorian catacombs of Bloodborne for steampunk feudal Japan. Combat is even faster than From Software's previous Soulsborne games, mimicking the challenging back and forth of the Tenchu franchise. For more information, here's everything we know.

Dude imagine if they did something crazy like an open world souls game? Or even rebooting an old franchise and making it mainstream again. That would be cool. High hopes!

I’ve been using this website for over 20 years (not with this account, I’ve probably had hundreds),and it’s really been going down the shitter lately.

Like really? Recycling 4 year old articles? You’re that desperate.

This is why more and more people are preferring YouTubers for game news and reviews.

Elden Ring and Armored Core VI already came out after Sekiro so I'll take it these were the two new games they were talking about?

How do you report an article? Because Jordan Ramee obviously didn't write this on 9 September 2023.

You know, I still can't grasp why millions of people love these games. I've played most of them and I still haven't even beat one of them. Blood borne, dark souls 1 - 3, elden ring, demon's souls, any of them. The only game from fromsoftware that I like is sekiro because the gameplay is too thrilling and addictive. But even that game is too hard. I always wanted my video games to be fun. The closest I'll come to playing a game so unbelievably hard is playing doom or doom eternal. I wish I didn't love third person triple A action games so much.

@probable: “I suck at these games so my extremely narrow minded worldview can’t comprehend why anyone else would like them!”

1. The games are nowhere near as hard as you make them out to be. They just require, like, the slightest bit of ACTUAL TRYING. Something tells me you went into these games thinking “oMg ThIs Is GoNnA bE sOoOooO hArd” and then you didn’t actually try. You didn’t even try to utilize blocking, dodging, or timing. You just went in there button mashing as if it was an action adventure game made in 2005. Then you died, laughed it off and said “haHaHaHa sEeE iTs ImpOsiBLe”.

90% of the normal level enemies die in 2-4 hits. Most of the bosses are easy to medium difficulty except for 3 or 4 of them. All you literally have to do is block attacks, dodge attacks, move away to let your stamina go back up, and then hit 1-3 times (depending on the boss) when they’re not winding up for an attack.

It’s not an easy game, but it’s no where near this impossible feat you make it out to be, you’re just not even trying.

2. The fact that you can’t understand why people who DON’T suck at videos games like this game, just because YOU suck at it, makes you look incredibly narrow minded. Like the world only exists how YOU see it, and you can’t understand how others see things differently. I’m not gonna get too deep into this, but this mentality is a reason why we have so many problems in the world today.

Anyways this comment was just all around stupid.

@godofheck42: some people want to play games, you know, for the enjoyement. We don't want a massive painful challenge because there are already enough of those in life. I feel like FromSoftware games appeal most to people who lack challenges in life (e.g., they still live with mommy and daddy or have no health issues), so they seek them out.

What nonsense is this? From Software games aren't even hard. They're easier than Ninja Gaiden games, they're easier than most games on hard mode, they're easier than high rank online play in Tekken.

Some people just like challenge in a game because it simulates their mind. I get some people are like you who are easily entertained by mindlessly mashing one button over and over again whilst the game plays itself for you but for many, a little challenge is fun and it's got nothing to do with living with parents or not. I say this as somebody who thinks From Software games are overrated.

Sounds like you still live with mommy and daddy though based on your mentality...

@probable: Every game isn't for every person, and that's a good thing. Some people like a challenge and a true sense of progression, while other people just want to be able to have fun consistently.

Lets see.

Best level design in the whole industry. If you haven't noticed that, you're too casual to have a clue.

Best enemies variety of any games around.

Best boss design in any games around.

Top notch combat system in every entry.

One of the, if not the best atmosphere in any titles around.

11/10 art direction in all of their Souls titles.

Sense of progress, something that is missing on most Modern titles.

And that's just a few reasons. In fact, they excel at everything other than performance and their dogwater engine from the 18th century.

Best level design? Nah, you've just played too few games and are too casual to handle anything beyond a mainstream game.

Best enemy variety? Nah. Even From Software's other games excel better in that department. Dragon's Dogma is superior to all though.

Best boss design? Nah. Nioh 1+2, Ninja Gaiden series, Monster Hunter games, Dragon's Dogma and Metal Gear Rising all have better bosses.

One of the best atmosphere in any game? Like have you seriously not played any other game? Resident Evil and Metro series has atmosphere that blows anything From Software related out of the water.

Hell, speaking of Metro games, there's random nameless NPCs in them with better written dialogue and more depth to them than the entirety of every From Software character put together.

I get you're a From fanboy but you should really try some other games. You'll realise that whilst From Software games are enjoyable, they're nowhere near the best out there. Even in the very genre of Soulslikes: Nioh is better.

From Software games are like Bethesda games at this point. Baby's first steps towards much better games out there and highly overrated by casual gamers who don't know any better. Although in Bethesda's case, their games have never been good.

You need to play your first Fromsoft title to understand. I suggest to try Elden Ring in 2030.

@gamerboy100:

Gamespot shamefully recycles articles that are years old for search engine optimization which creates these weird dissonance feelings where you realize that From Software has ALREADY RELEASED two games since Sekiro.

"Why yes, I do think they have two new games planned for release after Sekiro. Neither of them are Bloodborne 2 of course because we know them to be Elden Ring and Armored Core VI and we know that because it has already happened."

@BeefoTheBold: yea I hate shit like this. I’ve been using this site for over 20 years. I think it was 2001. It was the first gaming site I ever been on because as soon as my family had enough money to afford dial up internet, i typed in “video game website” on AOL, and Gamespot came up. Throughout the 90’s I’d only read game magazines when my mom told me to the grocery store. So seeing a website like this was like hitting the jackpot.

But it’s really sad how far professional gaming. Journalism in general has fallen. Youtubers are taking their place.

@BeefoTheBold: yeah tbh this is pathetic. The article is 4 years old.

My first thought was “was that the subtitle of the original game?”

It also references March 22 as a release date without any year, and the article is listed as being published a day ago.

Stuff like this makes me want to seek game news elsewhere… and ive been an active member of this site for decades.

Just shameful. And I mean, if you do crap like this for seo, why not just post flat out lies? Bet youd get a ton of clicks, and thats all that matters, right?

Pathetic.

I would be fascinated to see what kind of game they could produce that would be a departure from some of their recent titles. They possess an interesting creative team, would be cool to see them tackle a different genre.

Jokes on everyone. It’s actually 2 games fused into 1!

From Software decided they were sick and tired of hearing the phrase Soulsborne and in 1 monumentous decision thought it would be good to finally fuse the 2 franchises into 1 game!

SOULSBORNE the game due 2020!

-YEAH… NOT LIKELY, NINJA APPROVED-

Pretty sure one of those games is Armoured Core. He said it would be sci-fi. There is also an interview where he said a new Armoured Core was being made a few years ago.

The second game he described as "weird", so it's probably not Bloodborne. Doesn't matter since it's up to Sony whether or not we'll get another Bb. Sony is also capable of developing it themselves via Japan Studio since they own the IP.
