Free is a nice price.

Sony has revealed its free PS Plus games for March 2018, and some great titles are included. Out of all the PS4, PS Vita, and PS3 games on offer, the biggest game going is hit 2015 action RPG Bloodborne. [Update: March's free PS Plus games are now available.]

From March 6, PS Plus members will be able to download Bloodborne at no extra cost. The other PlayStation 4 game this month is Ratchet & Clank, the reimagining of the first game in that series that came to PS4 in 2016. Read more about the two games in our Bloodborne review and our Ratchet & Clank review.

PS4 owners will receive some bonus game in March thanks to Cross-buy. Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to Mega Man, is free on PS3 but the PS4 version is also available for no extra cost. Similarly, PS Vita games Claire: Extended Cut and Bombing Busters are free on the portable console but have PS4 versions that will be available for no extra charge at the same time. The final game going free this month is Legend of Kay on PS3.

One final bonus freebie is the Dungeon Defenders PS Plus Pack, a special add-on for Dungeon Defenders II that includes costumes, gold, and a Ninja Gato Pet. The DLC pack will be available for no extra cost from March 13 until April 10 for PS Plus members, though it appears to be exclusive to the US. Finally, Sony has confirmed that from March 8, 2019, it will no longer be giving away PS3 and PS Vita games with PS Plus, instead focusing on PS4 titles.

Aw, son of a bitch. I bought both last time they were on sale for like $15. I beat R&C (I could have waited), but I haven't touched BB.

Seriously where is our Bloodborne PS4 Pro patch?

Also they didn't even offer Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition!? Really?! I thought that's basically the only version available now to buy.

Can't believe they offered an inferior version.

@GunEye: yeah, because people who then like it will pay for the dlc. makes sense. and you can't really complain if you get Bloodborne for free, although it is that sort of game that everyone who wants to play it gets right away (not really a casual game you just jump in to play a bit), so i imagine there aren't even that many who will download it now.

i know i will never get a big budget title for free from ps+, because i buy those games when they come out. Indie games are where i get my value of ps+ games.

@RaveNRolla: I don't understand the whole "Free" games. You're not getting them for free at all, you literally have to pay 10, 25, or 60 in order to get the games.

@taylor_sparks: well they're sort of free from my perspective. sony forces me to pay 50€ a year to play online, that true. i do play online, i like my ps4 and i have a job where i work 40 hours a week, so 50€ a year really isn't that much money for me. so there's not really much to think about, i just pay it. i would pay it with or without the free games, so for me they're something extra. and i did have my share of interesting gaming experiences from ps+ games (forgot the name, but the game where you clone yourself to solve puzzles was awesome).

@taylor_sparks: And you're potentially getting around 1000$ worth of games if you buy the 12-month subscription that you can download at anytime if you add them to your library, so it is well worth it.

@dkjenvey: sure jumping between consoles might be a thing for some people. for me i've always used a ps and i don't see any reason why i wouldn't in the future. xbox is just as good, but i prefer the ps because i got used to it and by now i'm a long time fan of series like uncharted and god of war, so i'll probably never switch to another console and thusly will also keep my subscription going.

fyi: i actually forgot to resub last year and i wasn't a ps+ member for about 4 days. as soon as i resubbed all the games i downloaded/library'd were available again.

@RaveNRolla: Not sure that the first part of that reply is actually to me, is it? Sorry if I'm missing something, 'cause i'm with you on the brand loyalty aspect. I'll also keep my subscription going but more than a few months out of the year I will resent the lineup of that months IGC.

I know the games are available as soon as you pay again too but I think it would be better if we got to play them without the subscription. I've got an idea in my head but it's hard to explain, so bear with me if I can't explain it properly.

It goes like this

If we got to keep the games from like a year ago after having an active subscription for that long, something like this:

-Human buys PS+ in January 2016 to get that months instant games

-Human renews subscription for 12 months to continue playing said games

-Human gets other games they'd like to play during the next year and so renews with a 12 month subscription

-January 2017

-Sony makes the January 2016 games available without PS+ to anyone who has been subscribed 365 days from the games availability

-Human can now go back and play that game whether their subscription has lapsed or not

It doesn't sound unreasonable to me, obviously for people like you and me it doesn't matter because we're going to stay subscribed indefinitely but for others it might reduce the sting of all the months where they aren't interested in the games.

@dkjenvey: what i meant was that my sub will never run out (just occasionally 4 days ;) ) BECAUSE i'm always gonna be on a playstation. you got my point, we just both misinterpreted a little bit.

i would definitely be down with your idea. then again, as you said, it doesn't make much of a difference for us if we both keep renewing the sub. also business-wise, i don't think Sony will want to somehow motivate people to unsubscribe. i know you'd see it as motivation to subscribe in the 1st place, but i doubt Sony would see it that way. as long as they remember my games after a short break, that's all that i could ask for. i regularly put some ps+ games in the library for a later download, but truth be told it doesn't happen often that i actually download and play one, because i usually have other games to play. notable exceptions were infamous - last light, Transistor (one of my favourite games of all time, and the only ps+ game i never deleted from my ps4), that clone-puzzle game and some other indie-titles. sometimes there are even games i really wanna try out, like Alienation, but i just don't get around to it. 2017 was a crazy, crazy year for my gaming tastes (releases i mean, not ps+ games). i got sooooo many good games that year i think i Alienation was the only title i actually downloaded for free. and i deleted it again without playing it, because i needed space. And no, i couldn't just delete Transistor.

@GunEye: IF it will ever get PRO patch... (never)

It will be bump in resolution only and maybe frame pacing fix.

Higher fps however... no way.

@ragnarocking: I wouldn't mind that. Give us 4k CB and some AA. And fix the FP and Bloodborne will be glorious. Right now it still has that very blurry and very jaggy look combined with fp issues. Can't believe they didn't patch it until now. Especially brunt a Sony game .

It's such a missed operatunity with this game ;/

Give it a higher resolution and get rid of Chromatic aberration, it will be one of the most good looking PS4 games for sure.

@ragnarocking: oh by the way. How are you playing Shadow of the Colossus ? I am still torn between Cinematic and Performance. Over 10 hours in and killed 9 Colossi and can't decide. Going back and forth. Prefer 60 fps.

@ragnarocking: wish we could swap between Cinematic and Performance quickly via PHOTO MODE. At least so we can examine in 4k and take screenshots quickly before moving on in 60fps

damn just checked the Trophy roadmap ( usually not into trophies unless its organic and requires 1 or 2 playthroughs at most)

It seems too much on this game. Many things require repetition grind and going out of your way. Seems like a difficult tiring one. :/

Also did you see my other reply about GR2 etc.?

@GunEye: It can be very repetitive, but it was still very fun anyway for me.

I had to do 3 playthroughs+ grinding 1st and 2nd collossi for about 15 times and picking about 20 fruits to max Stamina and HP.

Speed run trophy is a joke, they give you 5hrs 40minutes and you can get it done in 2hrs easy.

I never really got to playing GR2 but...

Even if the game don't look too demanding, it could be. anything can be when you are talking about a game made by japanese devs. It could be shit optimization or they just lock you at 30 FPS for no reason.

Same goes for VC4, some devs just don't care as long as it's atleast 30 FPS.

Japanese devs also tend to lock the animations and game logic to FPS, so going beyond 30 is sometimes impossible without breaking it.

I remember Dark Souls 1 for PC was just like that.

@ragnarocking:

@ragnarocking: I agree and familiar with these points. About SotC thanks for the info. I don't think I will go for the Trophies at least not right away. I just like to take my time in a single long and slow paced thorough playthrough. I am playing my games like that. Even if it's significantly slower.

And it's rare that I replay a game a 2nd or 3rd time. Sometimes I will do that many months or years later.

The last games I played twice in rapid succession were Hellblade and Transistor on PC.

About VC. Physics tying to fps isn't the issue here. I know this because I read VC 1 on PC supports even 144hz with Gsync.

60fps on VC4 and higher res should be a given.

Haven't really gotten to play GR2 yet aside from finishing the prologue area.

But I have to admit I was rather disappointed moving from smooth & clear 60fps on GR1 to 30fps on GR2. That said the 30 is mostly rock solid and FP is VERY GOOD and it all looks very smooth.

Not quite the Masterworks 30fps+frame time of HZD but still.

Nevertheless it was very jarring and noticeable moving from GR1 R that looks really really good.

By the way the comic book sections look even better taking full screen.

I still look forward to play this game, just not right now. Preordered it lol.

I am currently juggling games on PC and PS4 playing HZD (which I paused for SotC - 190 hours in a single Playthrough - game is so long and massive),SotC and DMC4 SE PC.

And I think of starting Dark Souls 3 on pc. I am at the strange point of being a bit 'bored' and especially pondering what to play so I just don't play much or at all...

What are you playing now?

@GunEye: Well, i was playing some Persona 5 yesterday after long break thanks to "Golden Finger" trophy and got Platinum for that...

So nothing atm.

Now waiting on God of War and the rest of the amazing exclusives.

Maybe i'll play something in between... Heavy Rain maybe or Beyond Two Souls or both since they have that 2 game pack.

@ragnarocking:

So how's P5?

These usually aren't my kind of games and never played the series before. Don't play much traditional JRPGs aside from FF games and a few others (The Last Remnant, Resonance of Fate for instance).
I hear the grind is real there and there are a lot of grindy dungeon crawling sections so I wonder about that...

Oh and I am also looking forward to a few games. Most note worthy is Ghost of Tsushima which I am really intrigued about. Trailer was very well made. Artistically and cinematically smart.

Kinda looking forward to GoW and maybe even Spiderman but not sure about the gameplay. Didn't like it much. Seem too Batmanish and floaty.

What else? VC4 of course. And hopefully DMC5 - above everything else 100fold!

By the way, I also slow my pace and don't play my games so quickly & fluidly because I kinda don't want to "spend" them too quickly and sometimes I don't want it to end so fast. So I take breaks.

@ragnarocking: right exactly. I wss going to mention that. I dislike Chromatic Aberration and by the lord games that force that are so wrong.

If they really want that they should add a toggle. Same with Vigentte and more. Shadow of the Colossus also have those.

A game I think MUST have had 60fps - especially on the PRO is Gravity Rush 2!

Somehow it is stuck on 60fps with ONLY Higher res GEOMTRY OBJECTS! I mean why??? At least give us high Res and AA like Horizon. But the artsyle supports 60fps and coming from 60fps on the remaster of gr1 feels like a big downgrade.Another mind boggling oversight or laziness by Sony.

GR2 was one of the first PRO titles..

If VC4 isn't running on 60fps I think I will have to wait and skip it sadly until Steam version releases but it may take a long time.

I love BB and I would play it again if it had higher resolution, cleaner look and AA with smooth frame pacing. Damn.

VC4 should have at least 2k at 60fps for sure.

It's frustrating because the consoles are powerful enough (Horizon proves it) and some of the games don't look that heavy even if they look pretty.

@externalpower43 : it's amusing really. When they offer indie games everyone is like "what is this, I haven't heard about it, lamee, give us AAA". When they offer AAA then everyone is "who doesn't have this already?". I think only way to please the crowd would be to give them AAA games that didn't come out already.

@dmblum1799: yeah okay there pal... BB was great... but as an action game it doesn't hold up to the tight, reflex intensive action of Bayonetta. You can prefer the style of the game if you choose but when stripped down to its fundamentals, Bayonetta stands at the top of the heap.

Great month! BloodBorne is a great Souls/Borne game!

Ratchet & Clank It's a fun game and while not as great as the PS2 ones it's still fun

Claire - is very good little horror game and if you skip it you are a fool!

Mighty No9 - I know a lot of people run it down but it's not a bad game it's just ok. It definitely can be enjoyable if you forget the Kickstarter fiasco and the cringe worthy ad campaign.
