Hubert Chardot, one of the creators of the original Alone in the Dark, has set up his own game-development company in France called Gamesquad. One of his first projects is one that immediately caught our eye. Similar in style to Capcom's popular Resident Evil series, Chardot's Devil Inside is one survival-horror title to look out for this year.

In short, the game's background story is about a serial killer who was arrested in 1994 and executed in 1998. However, the terror doesn't seem to have ended, as two years later the killer escapes from hell and gets back to the surface with a horde of evil spirits. He's willing to do anything to avoid going back to hell. Anything.

The killer and his gang took refuge in Hollywood Hills and are haunting a certain residence. A TV station is covering paranormal activities, and Dave Cooper, a famous cop, has been called on the case. The star investigator can materialize DEVA, the devil inside him. His mission is to bring the killer and his horde back into the clutches of Lucifer. All of this takes place in front of the camera, as the TV-station crew members accompany Cooper. Sounds intriguing, don't you think?

According to Gamesquad, there will be 20 different weapons that you'll be able to get ahold of, and there will be 40 enemies to hunt. The game will take place in more than 50 main areas.

Take a look at our first batch of screenshots, and stay tuned for lots more information on the survival-horror title soon.
