Ubisoft has announced the minimum and recommended PC specifications and provided a list of supported video cards for the upcoming prehistoric action game Far Cry Primal.

No Caption Provided

This information was posted today on the Ubisoft blog. At least 4 GB of RAM is required to run Far Cry Primal, while you'll also need a 64-bit operating system and Windows 7, 8.1, or 10.

You can see the minimum and recommended Far Cry Primal specs below.

In other news about Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft held a livestream today dedicated to the game. During the broadcast, Ubisoft confirmed that you'll have the option to remove the HUD. This will provide an extra-difficult challenge, developers said, especially in areas where you need to use stealth.

Far Cry Primal arrives February 23 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while the PC edition debuts March 1.

At the end of the livestream today, developers teased that Ubisoft will make some exciting announcements next week about the game, though no other details were divulged.

How to screw it up? Just break any of these 2 very simple rules:

1) Give the user many options to cherry pick the HUD elements that he wants to deactivate.

2)The whole set of HUD options must complete. It must allow the user to deactivate all HUD elements and not just some of them.

Past farcry games broke rule #2. Now, according to the title of this article, I'm afraid Ubisoft is about to break rule #1 by having just one mega option. The article doesn't say "ONLY one option", but it look like it's what it's saying. And since I'm a pessimist, I bet rule #2 will still be broken somehow. Flashing objects? Enemies visible through walls? Objectives on the screen? What will it be this time?

It may look like I'm negative but I'm a huge farcry 3-4 enthousiast. The gameplay style I liked most was no gun, no hud help, stealth/bow/machete. FC primal is therefore the FC I want.

@murph85: This comment would be actually legit if the pc specs for "Recommended" performance weren't 5 years old.

I think that either there is a mistake on the specs or they got new programmers. Far Cry 4 on a high-end pc suffered a lot yet the newest game that isnt out yet has lower requirements.

@spyros_aronis: I have a very basic HP PC that I bought almost 6 years ago. My PS4 easily trumps it.

@ripleyget: Just go with a lower resolution you'll be fine. Most new games are totally playable at good fps if the settings are lowered, and they'll still look good -- just may not be good if your ego is hurt by not maxxing out all the settings.

Man I hope they work on the engine. Ever since 3 it's been a mess. Hitchy, inconsistent, just plain bad. The games looked nice enough but there were just too many performance issues even with the best hardware you could get at the time. Meanwhile, UE4 games like Vermintide run silky smooth and look cleaner and sharper to boot.

to me, this looks like the game they wanted to make with 3 and/or 4 but were maybe too afraid to make something without guns cause people are too dumb to enjoy a FPS without it.

@justinka777: FP(S) .. the S stands for shooter, and while you can shoot without guns most shootings are carried out with them !! So they may not be too dumb to enjoy a game without guns .. Don't just assume other people are dumb .. I love FPS games but Id enjoy this !!

Well that's a sweet option, I didn't really think of it until now I would feel kind of silly playing a game in that time era with a HUD, it must have been hard to design a HUD too and not make it look like the on-screen layout of flinstones for reg Nintendo.

For me, the "No-buy" option has been confirmed. Ubisoft games have become rotten and stale to the core. It's the same game with a different brand of paint each and every year. Innovation is lost on them.

@berserker66666: Um...

Explain to me how this is at all like any other Far Cry?

There are no guns! lol that's as fundamental a change as you can get.

Regarding Assassin's Creed though, I completely agree. Which is why I am kind of looking forward to some possible changes in the next one in 2017.

@skyhighgam3r: Yea it's definitely a fundamental change, but what exactly are they putting in there to REPLACE guns and vehicles...? So far I've seen a couple melee weapons and bee bombs (sounds like a novel idea, but in gameplay terms it's just a grenade), which are fine but don't really offer up enough imo.

To me Far Cry has always been about the guns and explosions and that kind of combat, it just seems like they've got a good idea here that could totally work as another game, but they need to call it Far Cry for marketing purposes. I'm just afraid it'll feel too much like a stripped down Far Cry game, and with not enough of it's own identity because it's just gonna be a FC spin-off instead of a different IP actually built from the ground up.

@nl_skipper: it's not a sequel for the game. It's a spin-off.

@Saidrex: it's not even a spin-off. A spin-off is taking a known side character(s) and or location(s) from a main popular storyline and giving it it's own separate storyline.

@Gravity_Slave: it's different for video games. Spin-offs share setting of original game or just use it's game mechanics while being a smaller, separate game. Basically same game in different setting.

The game itself is pretty damn simple with no deep gameplay or RPG elements.

I would prefer no HUD and no option to have a HUD. Far Cry 2 was my favorite in the series. It had a really bare HUD, a simple life bar and ammo and that was it.

@Saidrex: Yes, but 99% of the time turning off the HUD in games (that give the option) result in you dying or getting lost. That's why Far Cry 2 was so good because everything you needed to know to get around was on the map rather than in your face constantly.

Pretty low specs for a 2016 game. Let's hope the game actually runs well on that hardware. And is properly optimized on launch.

@Wiro_: I'd imagine it's just kind of an offshoot of Far Cry 4 with no special graphical tweaks to name.

Hope it's more than a reskin of animals with less content such as guns/vehicles - the Sri Lanka hallucinations were pretty cool in Far Cry 4 so maybe it'll have something similar.
