E3 2008: Soulcalibur IV strikes gold

bring it on vader. This is my 3rd LE purchase (GTA4 and MGS4).

I am getting SC IV limited edition for the PS3 and I look forward to testing my skills online. I guess it is time for me to brush up on Soul Calibur III to get ready.

Soulcalibur IV = My 1st limited edition purchase.

I hope on Xbox live we can have tag battles with up to 4 players just like in DOA 4. It would be alot more fast paced

I hope the online play works.

Game is a no brainer for me. I think I will pre-order to get the cool keychain. Here is what I am hoping... the console-exclusive characters only remain exclusive for a little while. Just enough time to ignite a fan boy war for a while (word of mouth creates hype. Hype nets more sales, etc) After a couple of months, make the characters DLC on PS Network and Xbox Live, and maybe add a woman character that wields a lightsaber. I can wish right?

Akitahkomachi , Yes, you're right. If there's any amount of work involved, a game should not be made. Brilliant. As for the difficulty, have you ever modeled a high-polygon character and then reduced the poly count? It's not the same thing as redoing the whole character. It's pretty easy. Similarly, to reduce a texture, open it up in a paint program and lower the resolution. If that's too tedious, make a macro to auto-scale the images. Draw distances? You know we're talking about a fighting game, right? When has that even been an issue in Soul Calibur?

I am getting this. Play the original on XBLA and I am ready to continue.

This game's the reason I want a PS3(and for LittleBigPlanet and maybe Ratchet and Clank). Hope you can still make custom characters, I never got to play SC3.

Kratos rumor has been debunked already. good god, people. do some research.

You can't play this on the Wii because scaling graphics down for the Genesis takes about 1% of the work it would take to scale the game down for Wii. They have to re-make all the character models with less polygons. They have to redo every single texture to fit the Wii's memory and SD graphics. They then have to recode the entire engine for a different hardware architecture and to dumb down the engines technical ability so the Wii doesn't explode (i.e. tone down lighting, depth of field, draw distance, water and smoke effects, etc.). So never again talk about porting a game from 360/PS3 to Wii like it would be easy.

"Going gold" means the final version of the game is complete, a master disk has been created, and it has been sent to print. it has "gone gold" meaning... it is finished.

I can't be the only one who noticed, but almost every single woman in the game has super pumped breasts ^^. Seems like a bit too much then again what the hell a lot of ppl will probaly be happy for it/them. We need a good fighting game again!!!

Though I wouldn't buy a Wii version, there's no reason there can't be one. They'd just have to scale down the graphics, making it resemble Soul Calibur 2 or 3 for Gamecube and PS2. It's been done before. Remember the Genesis versions of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter? Same gameplay, scaled down graphics. Seriously, why shouldn't people who only have a Wii be allowed to play this game?

Still hoping that Kratos is in the PS3 version

I've lost faith in this series after I hated 3.

I got my order in, it's only the wait left. Besides I an playing another game and that should do until July 29, may be.

Hmm since I really suck at these games I really am doubting if I'll get it. Though it does look great, that I have to admit.

i would say that they should have ryu hayabusa as a bonus character but he would clearly be the best fighter on the roster.

I hate that I'm stuck playing as Yoda. Vader is way more bad ass. It should at least be luke or someone who actually fights. I mean out of all the movies, yoda only has one 30 second fight scene.

This game was a definite buy until I read this article. I want both Vader and Yoda in the same game, what a rip off that they don't include both. Well Soul Caliber 2 will have to do.

They don't even need to advertise this game. I am getting it no matter what. I need a next generation fighter that is worthy or purchase and with this game having online play it is a must buy for me.

Must have for me. Of course I want the PS3 one, I'm more of a Darth vader person....and the PS3 controller is more suited to fighting games. Will just have to rent the 360 version later for the achievements :-P. Taki, hold on, I'm coming baby.
