If you've ever wanted to find out how a game that has been in development for more than 12 years plays, here's your chance. On Saturday, October 16, Duke Nukem Forever (which has ironically taken almost an eternity to make) will be available for the public to play at the Mana Bar in Brisbane, Queensland.

The event kicks off from 12:00 noon, and all five screens at the Mana Bar will be demoing the game, giving punters the opportunity to play what has long been written off as vapourware by many gamers. Topping it off, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford and copresident Steve Gibson will also be in attendance. Randy will even be participating in a special question-and-answer session that will be hosted by Yahtzee Croshaw.

To confirm exact details of the event, your best bet is to follow the official Mana Bar Duke Nukem Forever event page on Facebook.

The development of Duke Nukem Forever has been a long roller-coaster ride. Things took a turn for the worse in May '09, when 3D Realms was forced to let the dev team go due to a lack of funding. For over a year, rumours pointed to Gearbox Software as the team to take over work on the project, but it wasn't until the Penny Arcade Expo 2010 that Randy Pitchford confirmed the rumours and surprised everyone by having playable demo units of Duke Nukem Forever at the show.
