Dragon's Dogma 2 Gets New Trailer Showing Off The World And Many Monsters

Check out the latest trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2.

Capcom released a new trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2 during the PlayStation Showcase event. The new trailer invites players into the RPG sequel's world and teases some of the characters and monsters players will meet and fight.

"A truly immersive fantasy world elevated by the latest in graphics, artificial intelligence (AI) and physics technology," Capcom said in a blog post. "Wield swords, bows, and chant magick. Different vocations grant diverse abilities.The beastren, a beast-like race making its debut on this series."

Dragon's Dogma 2 will, like so many other Capcom games, run on the RE Engine. In addition to game director Hideaki Itsuno, at least two other developers from the first game, Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki, will return to work on the sequel.

Dragon's Dogma originally launched back in May 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3. It later received an upgraded version called Dark Arisen, which included expansion content, and then got ports on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. There is also an animated series on Netflix.

Awesome! This is THE game I’ve been most looking forward to for years. The first one was fantastic. It played so differently from anything I’d played that it was one of the few games to really feel like something new.

Hopefully it won’t be too many years before it comes out.

There is zero chance of it coming out this year, and you'd be lucky to see it release Q4 2024. They just began the development of the game like what? A year ago? And this is an open world game we're talking about. Don't be surprised if this is a 2025 game.

@hardwenzen: A year ago? Did you see the gameplay shown in the trailer?? They would've started development many years ago. They only revealed that it was being worked on at the 10 year anniversary (over a year ago).

They were literally stating last year (or whenever it was officially announced, i believe it was last year) they began the production of the game. So unless that's a lie, they barely have anything built.

@hardwenzen: Lol, they didn't start from scratch (what you're implying) a year ago. You don't get to a polished gameplay state in 1 year for such an expansive game. That's ridiculous.

It has definitely been in development for years, all they confirmed last year was that it was in development.

I am pretty certain that it was clearly stated "we are beginning development". We haven't seen anything but tiny slices, and because the animations seems to be the same, it can't be that hard to polish a tiny amount of gameplay. And there is a reason why no launch date was given, the game is far far away from coming out.

And its been longer since Half Life 2 came out. Where is HL3? Trying to use some logic here, but its just not working because the number of years the original title has been released for doesn't mean anything. Capcom considered it as a niche series, and its only with people constantly talking and demanding for a sequel that i believe they said F it, and began the production of the sequel. We are at least a year and half from launch. It is what it is.

We've already determined you have no clue how long it's been in development; clueless about game development to still imply it's got this far after a year.

Heck, if anything you should be saying it's got a minimum of 3 years before launch, considering the scope of the first one. Something like this takes 4+ years of heavy dev time to get to a ready state.

But then ask yourself this, why would they announce it so early? I have an easy answer as to why 😜
