Devs create Oculus Rift guillotine simulator

As silly as some say this is, I would honestly have never thought of this.

While they're wearing it, chop off their heads with a giant broadsword. The ultimate form of immersion!

This is a very creative way to do something interesting in just 48 hours. I applaud the devs who thought that up. Its a conversation piece if nothing else.

News flash: "Violent virtual simulations cut people's heads off."

Dumbasses in Washington: "We need to regulate violent virtual simulations to protect our children."

Reportards: "Research shows violent virtual simulations can induce violent suicidal emotions."

Open your eyes people. This is another move to desensitize you from that fact that they will eventually reveal the real Guillotine. They are preparing you to get your head chopped off.

Out of all the possibilities and THIS is what they come up with? Break out the fart jokes...

Ah I'm excitedly waiting for the parents and politicans screaming murder when children are going to randomly decapacitate themselves due to playing with this game. Uh, what?

Honestly, I think the rift being used to explore otherwise impossible things like this could be very interesting. Obviously not all ways to die. But just curious things we've never thought of. I think this creation is intelligent.

This reminds me of a guillotine reenactment I saw as a kid at the London Dungeon. It was mostly dark and when the blade came down they misted the audience with a quick spray of water--it freaked out my whole family. So if you ever want to really scare a friend with this tech demo, remember to have a squirt bottle ready.

There's great potential in this device for an alien abduction game. "I never asked for the anal probe!"

Looks fun, but gimmicky...

I feel all the naysayers entirely missed the point of this video. The fun behind it is the fact that it tricks your brain. The guillotine is simply a creative device to make the wearer feel disembodied, which in turn really freaks these people in the video out. It's just a surprisingly effective prank on the human brain. If you understand it, it's easy to see why the folks in the video reacted the way they did, and I applaud them for having fun with it.

Oculus Rift could force a new degree of realism into shooters that use it.

Since in a Rift game, your field of view is separate from where your gun is pointing, devs would have to program bullets to come out of your gun, not out of your face :P

So.....are there levels or boss stages? 0_o

Actually them tapping the people on the back of the neck as it fell was pretty funny.
