Destiny 2's Nightfall Strike Has Been Replaced After Issues Arise [Last Chance]

A new Nightfall is now in place.

Update: Bungie has replaced this week's Nightfall Strike due to issues players were experiencing with Exodus Crash. For the remainder of the week, you can try your hand at the Nightfall version of Pyramidion. Along with that change, there are also new modifiers in place: Timewarp: Zero Hour (which prevents you from extending the time limit) and Torrent (increasing the rate at which your skills recharge). [Today, Monday, October 23, is the last day to attempt this Nightfall--and earn its corresponding rewards--before the weekly reset occurs.]

Original Story: Every seven days, Destiny 2's weekly reset changes a bunch of variables within the game, from the activities on offer to the rewards available to the items on sale in shops. This week's Nightfall Strike, Exodus Crash, is set in Arcadian Valley, while Eververse have some new gear on offer.

Now Playing: Destiny 2 Week 7 Reset Exodus Crash Nightfall and Flashpoint Titan

Two modifiers are active in Exodus Crash this week, one of which again offers a way to earn additional time. Timewarp: Rings presents a set of large white circles throughout the mission for you to jump through; each one provides an additional 30 seconds of time to finish the Strike. The other modifier, Prism, rotates through each of the three elements, with the chosen element doing additional damage (and the others doing less than usual). Following the release of a Destiny 2 update last month, this now functions correctly, as the message indicating the chosen element no longer lasts for just a brief moment. Additionally, an on-screen effect helps to highlight when the element changes from one to the next.

In terms of Challenges, Speed of Dark is active as always, which requires you to finish the Strike with at least five minutes remaining. Unbroken tasks you with completing the Strike with fewer than three deaths. And finally, Faster Than Lightning asks your Fireteam to kill nine Shanks with melee attacks before defeating Thaviks.

Exodus Crash in Arcadian Valley has a recommended Power level of at least 240. If you haven't made it to that point, you may want to consider waiting until after you've raised your Power level before grabbing the Nightfall reward, which is Powerful gear. This Nightfall will be available until Destiny 2's next weekly reset, which occurs at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST / 8 PM AET on Tuesday, October 24.

Away from the Nightfall Strike, you can grab a new bundle from Eververse. Costing 2000 Silver, the legendary Golden Sevens bundle contains seven bright Engrams, seven shaders, 500 Bright Dust, and a unique Nothing Gold ship. Take a look at the ship for yourself below. [Update: It appears this bundle is no longer for sale on the Eververse store.]

No Caption Provided

Plenty more has likely changed for the week, with previous resets offering new Milestones, Challenges, and treasure maps to buy from Cayde. Sadly, the weekly reset also means last week's Iron Banner event is now over. However another event, the Leviathan Prestige Raid, goes live tomorrow, October 18, after it was delayed last week.

Destiny 2's new winter activity, which is called The Dawning event, has also been revealed. It includes the ability to play hockey at the Farm, and throughout Destiny 2's playable areas there will also be snowballs you can throw at enemies to do damage. Of course, there's also new gear. You can see all the details on Destiny 2's winter event here.

We're still digging deep into Destiny 2, but there are some basic things you should know (and habits from the first Destiny you might need to break). Those include not waiting to decrypt Engrams and saving some of your Upgrade Points. You can check out more in our Destiny 2 beginner's guide or our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks.

In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie has removed the Monty Python-inspired, high-kicking walk emote. Although the developer hasn't officially said why this has been removed, it may have something to do with the emote letting players get into some walled-off, unfinished areas.

@dashawnthl: Yeah, the way they've handled the timer sucks. If you've got two buddies who are good at the game, and down to be super coordinated and polish a run enough to make it through, it can be kinda fun ... but it's still not as fun, or as satisfying as the Destiny 1 Nightfalls were.

I can see a time limit being there as an optional additional reward, as it was in at the end of the last game, but as a requirement to finish the Nightfall the time limit kinda sucks all the fun out.

I still have the bright engram bug while playing the crucible. The symbol stays on my screen so I can't see anything. Also, I have no time for long raids. I'm finally getting to 300 on all 3 guards. Everyone else is 305 with cool gear.

Their app for android still bugged with the "Unfortunately stopped working" since day 1.

Played this game to death for about 1 month. It was a blast. Have since stopped playing. There was really nothing else to do anymore. Doing the same thing over and over does get boring after a while.

I didn't see an issue with the nightfall strike. I ran through it on the first try with two randoms.

@borkgordon: I didnt either. I think the “issue” was that people found it pretty tough as far as Nightfall’s go, lol. Especially since they didnt define “issues” at all.

The one they replaced it with is probably the easiest one.

The nightfall was bugged? We finished it yesterday with 5 min remaining on the first try. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t overly hard either with 3 of us over 300.

Ya know, i also just had to comment on this "Shiny New Ship" business. This is bullshit. It's not a new ship. It's got a palette swap. I mean, I am torn- because I do really enjoying playing this game with my friends but I also have to agree that this does feel like a lazy sequel. From what I can tell, there are THREE ship designs. Two or Three sparrows. And then the colors just get swapped around.

I really hope that they have some content they are holding back that is really going to take this game to another level, because as if this is all they have to offer, I'll be stopping here with the franchise.

The new nightfall sucks. I really think they suck overall, but this new one is particularly terrible. I'm all for making these things challenging, but it should still be fun. And I don't know anyone who considers these Timed, stressful, bugged, missions fun.

@p1p3dream: I like it better when they weren’t timed and had the “burn” effect for one element the whole time. I’d rather they go back to that and just make it way harder.

How could nightfall be bugged again in the same manner and what people feel is best is to manually fix it and lose time rather than completely addressing bungie about it? Shitty studio puts out a beta game and a month later is still missing bugs that were highly acknowleded.

@spartanx169x: The game was nearly 3.5 million at its peak. Destiny 2 still has a healthy user base but the drop in such a short time is massively worrying. The number vary day to day and a 300k difference in 1 day is not really evidence. If you look at a graph since the game was released it is on a steady decline. Losing more than half of your player base in a couple of weeks in a living game like Destiny is a disaster.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ2JnAvbv6Y&t=436s

The game has so many problems, especially at end game it is no surprise. Signs show that the game is dying and it is up to Bungie to fix it.

@creepywelps: If you think it’s failing, you don’t have a good understanding of the word . It’s selling as well as they hoped and still has an extremely strong player base. What exactly is failing?

@dashaka: The fact it has lost more than half of its install base from launch is proof enough that it is failing. I hope it doesn't as I loved the first game but after seeing reviews and end game content I thought it would be best to wait it out until it's worth my time.

Of all the sequels I've played, D2 is the most low-effort sequel I've ever seen put out. Which I guess is great for business this first time around but when D3 arrives, I hope the fanbase will have learned its lesson. Fool me once...yada yada yada.

@dragonagelore: True, the last CoD I played was Black Ops, and the one before that was World at War. I have enjoyed a good number of Assassin's Creed games though (1-3, Black Flag and Brotherhood).

@cruel_phate: I'm kind of surprised how much bad info got published about how Destiny 2 plays. How engrams/drops scale, saving your upgrade points, saving your campaign rewards, how the loot boxes effect gameplay. A lot of people a little too quick on the draw.

this game needs new content and fast...once you have leveled to 305...there is literally nothing to do after you beat the raid...nothing. They still havent learned their lesson from D1...which is why again, their playerbase will plummet after the first month or so.

I am enjoying my time with D2 so far, but i am not quite 305 yet, 301. Once that happens, not sure what will keep me coming back. Iron Banner was a joke...basically PvP is in a terrible place...so not quite sure what this games hook will continue to be.

@gamersince78: Its the exact same, purgatory style, infinite never ending dead end loop. Do missions youve done 30 times or get on another game because that is the literal only thing to do at 305. Same missions, same rewards at the end. You cannot get stronger. What changes is the guns you use and who you play with, not the game.

Sad enough enemies still spawn in the exact same locations in every activity, even more repetitious.

@ranzikiel: I would love space battles kinda like the mission of Halo Reach when you are in space, that was one of my all time favorite missions in all of the Halo games and the Halo 4 mission where it's like Star Fox flying through the Mantle's Approach.
