Destiny 2 Dev Is Discussing Endgame Improvements; Will Reveal More "Soon"

We might see changes to the endgame soon.

In the month since Destiny 2's release, fans have already spent countless hours exploring its world and completing all the activities. One of the biggest criticisms of the game that's arisen is that its endgame isn't deep or involved enough to support its most dedicated fans. It's too easy to hit the level cap, the argument goes, and there's not enough high-level content to keep players going.

In its Weekly Update, Bungie revealed that it has heard this critique and it's taking it to heart. Although it didn't provide any specific details, the developer nonetheless said that discussions about endgame improvements are happening internally. Further, Bungie will talk more in depth about its plans to address the problem soon.

"Right now, these discussions are also happening in our studio," community manager Chris "Cozmo" Shannon wrote. "We are listening, but need time to digest everything and draw up the best plans for the future. We will have more to say on this soon. Please stay tuned, and keep the conversation rolling."

In other news, Bungie also announced the final specs for the upcoming PC version of Destiny 2. The PC version will unlock on October 24 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 2 PM BRT / 6 PM BST.

I've just reached 305 this week and put well over 100 hours into the Game, so royaly **** off if you wanna make the Game more grindy then it is, if anything People should complain about the lack of new Races and Enemy typs and stuff to explore to extend the lore more. Not to mention only having 1 Raid at launch, at least have 2.

Enjoying this one a lot more than Destiny 1, and I enjoyed that one too.

I’ve played WAY too much Destiny 2, and I’m only at 295 and 285 with my two characters. If you’re complaining there’s not enough content in this game, you need to step outside every once in a while.

Gamers dont be a sheep finish the game and move on to something else, do you know how many good games are available to play, why do you want to play the same thing over and over.

@yukushi: I imagine that's what most people are doing. I got about 100 good hours out of Destiny 2, and now I'm off playing other things. But I'd still like Bungie to make improvements to Destiny 2, because when this game is good it's better than most everything else.

That's what happens when you focus more on gambling mentality research instead of actually making a fun game. Bungie deserves the critique.

Destiny 2 is even more garbage than destiny 1. Pvp has 1 good game mode and pve lacks game content. I can believe my friends tricked me in to buying this crap.

So basically the same problems as the first game, and people are surprised by this?

@derek: Not really. Destiny 1 had a massive grind that used pretty much all its content; there just wasn't enough content and the grind was way too long. Destiny 2 has a small grind that only uses part of its content; so now the grind is too short and a bunch of the game isn't worth doing twice.

@derek: It solved almost every problem the first game had and made new problems the first didn't have, so yes I was surprised.

How the **** Bungie didn't see this prior to release is completely beyond me, I could see where it was heading after less than a week of playing it. Great game for about 30-40 hours but so poorly designed as a long term game which it supposedly is. PC players will get to find out soon enough.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

"discussions about endgame improvements are happening internally."

Fifa ultimate team made almost 700 mils last year and activision made 3.6 bil $ from microtransactions , and Gamespot had Destiny 2 articles swarming the homepage for a week at least they made 100+ articles about the game

the industry sure is all about clicks and money now

Strikes need a heroic playlist, with better rewards and higher difficulty that doesn't come from a ****ing timer.

Adventures taken from NPCs should be heroic adventures; harder with better rewards.

Meditations should be daily, harder, and provide better rewards.

We also need better ways of getting mods for specific slots, a better mod inventory/UI, and a greater variety of mods for both weapons and armor. Frankly, it might not be a bad idea to make crafting a second mod slot in weapons and armor part of the endgame grind.

And a shader crafting system might be a cool feature too.

@Mogan: Playing the same stuff over and over doesn't fix anything. This has always been destinys problem its a waiting game for the next dlc.

@gamingdevil800: There's actually more to play this time than before (potentially, anyway). If they'd make heroic, repeatable versions of the campaign missions, adventures, and strikes that'd keep the majority of the game available for the endgame, rather than making a bunch of it stuff you play through once (if that) and then never touch again because the rewards aren't for endgame characters.

I'm sure they'll add more end game activities in the expansions, same as they did before, but until they create a new Prison of Elders, Court of Oryx, or Archon's Forge, I think they should look at using what they've got to help expand end game options. And to support a bigger, more interesting progression.

@Mogan: I won't be jumping in till next year at the earliest anyway. I have a feeling that there will be a big dlc next september like they did with Oryx bundled with the base game/the first two dlc packs.

@gamingdevil800: Probably, yes. I thought about holding off until then, but there's something to be said for being part of the zeitgeist around a new, big game like this.

@Mogan: This. It’s just not as fun playing the old content when no one else is. Plus all the gear is crap until the most end game content anyways. Destiny is a game meant to be played ASAP as it’s content is released.
