Deadpool & Wolverine 4K Blu-Ray Steelbooks Get Big Discounts At Amazon

Amazon is offering limited-time discounts on both the Wolverine and Deadpool steelbook variants, which are sold out at retailers such as Walmart.

Deadpool & Wolverine's hard-to-find limited-edition steelbooks are discounted at Amazon right now. While other retailers such as Walmart are sold out, Amazon not only has copies, but the retailer is offering them for $45 (was $66) each. The Wolverine Steelbook has been sold out more often since the film's October release, so we imagine this deal will sell out first, but we wouldn't be surprised if the Deadpool Steelbook sold out fast, too.

$45 for the steelbook is ludicrous.

I'm happy I shoplifted the regular 4K disk out Walmart then kicked the senior citizen greeter in the nuts when he tried to chase me down using his walker.

So long 20th Century Fox, your movies were .... were movies, and at least you made superhero movies in a time when they were not a huge fad, they are today.

You had a good run, and D/W3 was a nice nod to you.

This isn’t a sale at all. I don’t know if the general population ever notices, but around the holidays, prices get jacked way up above their normal retail value and then they “put it on sale” for a “huge discount” which actually only amounts to a couple dollars below the true retail value and they call it a great deal and people jump out of their chairs for that fake “60% off sale.” Sure, there are some actual sales out there, but they’re harder to find.

I see it every year. Never have I seen it with a standard 4k movie release though. $50-$60 is not the retail value of a standard new 4k movie. $30 is the maximum for big budget releases. $35 for steelbook. In a lot of cases, $25 is the standard. Sometimes even just $20. At least Vudu stays true to pricing and has actual sales.

Don’t be fooled. This is not a sale, it’s not a good deal; it is not 50% off; it’s normal retail pricing and they’re being stupid about it, because they simply want to maximize their profits by making it look like a fantastic deal.

@joecollin: Whenever buying anything from Amazon it's worth taking a look on camelcamelcamel dot com. You can search, or past the url, of the item you're interested in and the website shows you a graph with a timeline and price changes of the item since it was put on Amazon. Great for seeing just how good the "deal" is.

Maybe not so good day one releases of course but definitely worth looking at for most things.

@joecollin: agreed that this is not a deal and disney is smartly taking advantage of consumers. (Regardless of the optics Disney portrays, they are a ruthless business.) I also agree that gamespot is misleading with this headline as well. Gamespots entertainment has somehow transitioned into an Amazon ad. However, I think inflation is a factor as well. Although I will still refuse to pay over 20$ for a 4k, prices on everything are increasing and even electronics/media are impacted.

@plustwenty: this is the only movie that I’ve seen priced like this. Inflation doesn’t suddenly double the price of a movie.

@joecollin: the list price has been 40 for 4k. Disney went up 10$. the new alien movie is also 50$. I don’t see Disney changing this trend at all. I agree with you that the whole 50% off is a marketing scheme. They took advantage of consumers that preorder. I’m just saying that inflation is real and Disney is not going to take less profit. There is a reason why they have been able to monopolize the movie industry. I expect a 5$ increase on Disney movies here out.

@plustwenty: it looks that way. That much money for a movie is insanity. I’ll choose a new video game over a $50-$60 new movie 100% of the time, even if the game sucks. I’ll stick to digital movies on sale. If my digital library gets taken one day, then so be it. I don’t need em anyways.

I didn’t like this movie as much as others did. For much of the movie, I wish Deadpool would just STFU, he is like being on a date with a loud obnoxious woman who does not have the self awareness to know when to shut up.

Deadpool and Wolverine is everything wrong with modern Hollywood filmmaking all in one movie and because it made so much money, we will unfortunately be getting more movies like it.

@GalvatronType_R: So you... needed the third movie---- before just figuring out, finally, what all deadpool movies are about.

But you wanted to support the third movie, just to remind Hollywood what they are doing wrong.

I could understand the first .... but this just makes me laugh at you, getting your epiphany at the end of the trilogy.

@GalvatronType_R: This was not a good entrance into the Deadpool universe. You at least wanted to watch the first two movies before watching this film. And if you are a real fan of Deadpool you’ve more than likely read many of the comics. He did exactly what Deadpool does in the comics and previous movies, however this was definitely the worst out of the three films. It was still good and funny but if I had to rank them, this would be the lowest ranked

@GalvatronType_R: Umm do you not know Deadpool's personality? He's not some gritty hardened superhero with super serious dialogue. They portray him in the movie like he is in the comics: obnoxious, uncanny and 4th wall breaking. I think your expectations for this movie should have been lowered if you were expecting a higher quality film like Avengers: Endgame or something...

@cyrezeraser: they’re just faking a sale. This never happens with standard 4k releases or with anything else at release, really. They’re simply scamming people into believing that they’re getting an unbelievable deal. It’s true. It’s literally unbelievable, because it’s a fake sale. They’re still selling the movie for normal retail price of $25+ with this “50% off” sale.
