Now Playing: Top New Video Games Releasing On Switch, PS4, Xbox One, And PC This Week -- April 12-18, 2020

Something related to the Crysis series appears to be getting teased, after a long period where the franchise has laid dormant. The official Twitter account has begun tweeting messages for the first time in years, suggesting an announcement involving the first-person shooter series is on the way.

The first message simply says "Receiving Data." But it's also the first new tweet from the account since December 2016, so the message coming out of the blue seems likely to be hinting at something.

The second is addressed to "Nomad," a reference to Jake "Nomad" Dunn, the hero of the first Crysis game. The sequels featured different protagonists, so invoking Nomad could indicate a plot connection to that first game, or a remaster.

The last game, Crysis 3, was released in 2013 from developer Crytek. The company shut down some studios in 2015 amid financial troubles and most recently put out Hunt: Showdown in 2018.

"Crysis 3 is fantastic to look at, successfully portraying an uneasy partnership of the natural and the artificial," Kevin VanOrd wrote in GameSpot's Crysis 3 review. "As the story presses on, the conflict deepens and the visuals darken; it's as if you can feel the evil spreading throughout the city. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't reach the heights of its predecessors. The campaign is several hours shorter than Crysis 2's, and doesn't reproduce the thrills that lit up the previous games. Yet on its own terms, this is a full-featured sci-fi shooter that makes it a lot of fun to torture extraterrestrial abominations with the burning rage of their own weapons."

A remaster would be great, but if it’s just the first game that would be so disappointing. I’m sure Crysis 1 is great, but 2 is the only one I’ve played, and it holds a special place in my heart. I loved it.

@jamejame: Yes, they should remaster all 3. Preserve them for the future.

A new gane would be better than a remaster.

I would like to see a continuation of Crysis 3, with prophet being found and asked to help with a ensuing invasion launched from the Ceph's homeworld, with new technology and upgrades developed from the Ceph warship Prophet destroyed at the end of C3. I for one don't think the story ended at the end of the last game, there is at least 1 more game needed to end the original story, here's to hoping the dev think the same.

The thought of Crysis returning was exciting, then I remembered it’s still owned by EA.

(crossing fingers)... perhaps a remaster of the trilogy for next-gen and PC?

With additions like ray tracing and proper multithreading support in Crysis 1- it could be a remaster that's less demanding than the original game!

Crysis in VR would be neat too

I would be pleased if it was a reboot and became an fully open-world game. I would still be happy with a direct sequel though.

Looking forward to learn more data 🙂

I want a new Crysis. Maybe even a reboot. Story of the first 3 was pretty good.

Interesting how many people scream their heads off about too many remasters, but it's the first thing everyone seems to ask for in situations like these.

I'm unsure what the disconnect is.

Seriously, all I see is remaster and open world on this thread. I am like HELL NO! Do a proper Crysis 4 with RT and I'll be good.

@midna: Doubt it's battle royale because the main draw of the Crysis series is cutting-edge graphics, which would have to be scaled way back to make a battle royale run well enough. For example how Apex Legends looks so much worse than Titanfall 2.

If Crytek decided to make such a game I don't think they would do it within the Crysis IP

just give me, crysis or crysis warhead with wars remastered (warhead's multiplayer) or both with power struggle on the ps5 and xbox series x and the gamepad controller setup and sensitivity close to call of duty 4 and up or similar to "warface" on consoles (only play the "switch" version only).

here's the controls i want for xinput devices (xbox 360/one controller) for xbox series x and pc (when your not in a copter or land vehicle):

lb = hold for nanosuit ability and weapon customization (navigate with the right stick)
lt = hold to ads

rb = throw grenades (hold to switch different type of grenades and select with the left joystick)
rt = fire weapon

left stick = movement, press and hold to normal sprint, double press and hold for maximum speed sprint (shortcut, automatic turns off when you stop holding, does not stay in maximum speed mode)
right stick = press to couch, hold to prone

dpad up = put weapon away
dpad down = drop current weapon
dpad left = night vision
dpad right = equip and switch claymore/c4/rocket launchers

a = normal jump, hold for maximum strength jump (shortcut, does not stay in maximum strength mode)
b = melee, continuous taping for maximum speed melee (shortcut, automatic stops when you stop tapping, does not stay in maximum speed mode), hold for maximum melee (shortcut and one hit kill, does not stay in maximum strength mode)
x = manual reloading weapons and interact with objects and doors
y = next weapon swap

select = mission objective for campaign, map (power struggle, mulitplayer), hold for scoreboard (multiplayer, disappear when you let go)
start = pause game and show main menu (game still going on for online multiplayer)

because when crysis 1 1st release on pc it had crappy xbox 360 controller support and very bad sensitivity, but crysis warhead/wars improved it a little, fast forward, me playing "warface" on the "switch", feels similar to all the call of duty weak aim asst. on the wii u/ps4/xbox one era.

don't care for crysis 2 and 3, multiplayer was fine with the game mode without the nanosuit involved, better than call of duty's core multiplayer heath without stopping power as a perk and not a field upgrade.

@aross2004: better than xbox 360 controller support back then.

I end up hip firing with very slow looking sensitivity, end up at 8/16 on my team on power struggle 32 player with a xbox 360 controller vs mouse and keyboard users. if it was like call of duty 4 looking sensitivity and controls (I play with tactical button layout) on console without aim asst. I'm sure i'll be at 4/16, holding lt to ads on a xbox 360 controller would be nice.

I'm sure crytek could put in a remastered version on pc as it would be like a xbox series x version.

I love Crysis, but I don't have any faith in Crytek these days. Hope they prove me wrong.

Please be a remaster collection for consoles. Or a completely new game. No spin-off...
