Collector selling every SNES game for $25,000

eBay listing includes 721 SNES titles released in US, Mexico, and Canada; seller willing to take best offer, but has declined all thus far.

Auction site eBay is home to numerous SNES collections, but one is more comprehensive than the rest. eBay user "kaisetsuna" is unloading a collection that includes all 721 SNES titles released in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The asking price is $24,999 or best offer.

No Caption Provided

Forty-nine offers have been made thus far, including 13 today alone. All have been rejected.

The collection--which weighs in at 400 pounds--includes boxes for each game, as well as 85 percent of all manuals. Conditions range from near mint to fair, with each game having been "professionally" cleaned and tested.

Writing on Reddit, the seller said it would be preferable to complete a potential sale outside of eBay so as to avoid the auction site's fees.

@Suikogaiden It doesn't matter, the dent in his wallet that each of these games made have been smoothed over with new money. If he sells them now he could be 25 000 dollars richer than before and will need a really large wallet to fit all that cash.

Just checked out the value on this collection (winged it a bit, but should be very close to right ammount). I estimate this collection, at top dollar value, calculating that all games are used and complete (which they aren't), at 25 280.00$. Really nice collection I must admit, but he's gonna have to sell this well under 20 grand if he really wants to sell the collection (especially that these are all bought second hand). Im sure it didn't cost him 20 large to purchase all of them. My advice to the seller, if someone offers you something close to twenty (like 18k$), take it without hesitation!!! (best of luck on your sale).

That'd actually be a good investment, first and foremost 'cause almost no game from back then was the filth we see today, and even the retarded sports ones, just as an example, could be resold for big bucks still, on the order of a few hundred dollars, EVEN ON EBAY the ruthless!

good investment? games don't really go up in value over time as much as lets say gold or silver. Also the sports games are the most common to find and like the sports games nowadays almost no one wants

@tgwolf True but who would want to resell the castlevania series , the megaman x series, the nintendo titles, and the square enix titles like final fantasy, chrono trigger, or secret of mana. Hell i would keep all of those and burn all the crappy movie license games and sports games ( we dont need another copy of shaq fu in the world.)

At nearly $35 a game, I don't think you'll find too many people willing to give anything close to $25,000. Unless you got some million/billion aire with money to burn & into SNES games. Some of those games might be worth a $100+ but most will probably be worth about $5. Bring that average down to maybe $10 per game and he'll find plenty who's willing to part with $7210.

@leeko_link people will buy it, just because it is the most costly option, some people are like that, they look up the most costly version and buy that, just cos' they can, makes them feel better

@Damnation_6 Perhaps s/he is getting married, going to college, buying a house, having another child, caring for an aging parent, incurring medical bills, etc.. There are a lot of things in life that are worth the sacrifice of a hobby. It's just stuff, albeit cool stuff. But it's all replaceable.

I remember a vast games collection being sold in France to an American buyer, the amount was over $1 million dollars. Chances are, this will be sold to an extremely wealthy American gamer who absolutely adores Nintendo.

How long is the battery life for those games that require saves on those SNES carts?

@rey2 It depends. I have some SNES games like Harvest Moon and Final Fantasy III that I had to replace the battery in but many of them still have the original batteries. So I'd say 12 or so years at the least and then they'll slowly start to die after that. That being said, there's a very good chance a lot of those games will have to have their batteries replaced. Still, that's an amazing collection. :)

Me and my friends used to have NBA Jam competitions on the SNES back in the day. That version of NBA Jam is how I wish the crappy EA version played. I never checked out the "On Fire Edition" but I heard it was the better of the 2 from EA.

I can't imagine ever selling my collection of games. Of course, a lot of it is PC, on Steam, so I couldn't even if I wanted to. That's probably the only bad thing I can think of for being such a PC centric gamer. Still, I don't think I'd sell any of my GBA, DS, PS2, or Wii games.
