Lego games have had a big presence at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Earlier this week we talked with The Doctor Peter Capaldi about his role in Lego Dimensions, and during a panel today, Marvel and developer Traveler's Tales revealed new gameplay and characters for the upcoming Marvel Lego Avengers.

While panelists assured the crowd that the game will include "hundreds" of playable characters spanning both current and previous members of the Avengers, only a handful were confirmed at the panel:

  • Sam Wilson as Captain America
  • America Chavez
  • Crossbones
  • Playable Stan Lee with "Stanbuster" and "Iron Stan" armor

You can check out images of the new characters (and the Stan Lee variations) in the gallery above.

Unlike the previous game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Avengers will be less of an original quest and will follow the timeline of the recent Avengers movies, both The Avengers and Age of Ulton. But the game won't be entirely linear; players will still have a large, open-world New York to traverse and explore.

No specific date was announced, but the Lego Marvel Avengers is coming this Winter to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC.
