Capcom Is Remaking More Resident Evil Games

Which entry will be remade next?

Capcom has confirmed that it will be remaking more Resident Evil games, but it's not revealing which ones yet.

Speaking at a PlayStation partner awards event in Japan, Capcom's Yasuhiro Ampo was asked if more Resident Evil games were going to get remade in the same vein of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4. "Yes, we’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well," he said. "Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more."

Now Playing: How Resident Evil 4 SAVED Resident Evil

Ampo continued, "What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it." He also talked about how there's no way to know whether a remake will be critically well-received, but player feedback and opinions have been important in developing them.

While we don't know which Resident Evil game Capcom will remake next, some possibilities include Code Veronica or the original Resident Evil, as well as Resident Evil 0 or Resident Evil 5.

Resident Evil 4 remake was released in March and is nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023. In GameSpot's Resident Evil 4 remake review, we said, "Capcom raises the bar for what a good remake is and simultaneously preserves Resident Evil 4's legacy as a genre-defining experience and one of the greatest games of all time."

Umm... I don't actually care which one,
or whether it's a remake or not.
All I care about is that it's good.

I like good games.
I don't like bad games.

Simple really.

So long as they keep the co-op aspect, I’ll take RE5R. But really, RE6 is probably the game most in need of a do over.

Only RE games worth remaking left is Revelations multiplayer.

Re4 5 an 6 are not RE games they experiments with other genres. And all sucked if you were a RE fan.

7 and 8 were not bad but they had that modern game problem of pretty with no real soul.

I want to see revelations, but not split into 2 parts, one massive 70 buck game!

Code Veronica should've been done before RE4

@somberfox: too right. When I read your comment I though "weird, I don't remember repeating my statement about RECV in this article."

It may be all I need, RE2 remake was a must. RE3? wasn't wowed by the original and RE4 didn't need it (more like I wasn't intrigued after seeint that superb job).

They should remake Dino Crisis and in the process revive the series with Dino Crisis 4.

Code Veronica please, it's never received a remaster and came out on Dreamcast 23 years ago!

@ridah_2pac: It got a remaster on PS3 and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 version is also backwards-compatible and goes on sale on the digital store sometimes.

@gamerboy100: Sorry, should've been more clear, "remake".

@gamerboy100: that remaster feels so much like a re-release with only the lazy texture scale-up. Still, better than nothing (what Nintendo does).

I'm down for any REmake, as long as the same amount care and detail that was put into the RE2 and RE4 Remakes continues. The RE3 Remake was nowhere near as solid.

@TheTenthPlague: Nemesis was weak in itself, a remaster wouldnt improve much if the foundation was poorly made.
