Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Is A Full Price $70 Game

The standard edition will be $70, and the Vault edition should cost more.

Activision has once again stated that this year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a "premium release." As such, it will cost $70 USD for the standard edition. Activision confirmed this to CharlieIntel, following ongoing speculation that Modern Warfare III might be a lower-priced game.

There has been great speculation and uncertainty about 2023's Call of Duty game in the past year. It was at one point reported that Activision would not release a full Call of Duty game at all this year. But Activision quickly stamped that out and confirmed that 2023's game would be a full, premium release. The game is a direct sequel to 2022's Modern Warfare II, and it's expected to have a campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.

The full reveal of Modern Warfare III will take place inside Warzone on August 17, and there is an in-game event happening where players can earn special items and rewards.

In addition to the $70 standard edition of Modern Warfare III, there will be a Vault Edition. If history is any indication, this should cost about $100 and include a variety of digital extras.

Modern Warfare III launches on November 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. A beta is rumored to be in the works, too, launching first on PlayStation consoles. Keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more on Modern Warfare III in the days ahead.

Stopped buying Call of Duty after Black Ops 2. $70 for Call of Duty is the insane, glad I out grew the franchise in my 20's.

Just so everyone know, Activision filed a patent that allows for real time adjustment of gameplay mechanics like gun accuracy, damage you do, damage they do to, etc, and its purpose is to prioritize "fun for all" over "competitiveness for all."

You can look on the Steam forums from around the time the last game was hot. You can most likely google it with ease. Its a real thing, and I am by no means pulling this out of my a**.

Its something you really need to consider when purchasing any of these games, and frankly other devs are probably doing something like it too, its just that this patent was "caught" and also caught in action in the last game (MW2 also I think? I played dozens of hours then quit. What an impression it left on me /s lol)

Should this diverge into some sort of arguement, you would get me to cite official patent sources pretty quick, I just dont feel like going to government run websites to find it.

COD SUUUUCKS. I wait for it to be free, like the Cold War crapfest or for it to fall into the 9.99 bin.

The series hasn't been good or done anything original since Advanced Warfare and that's about 10 years old.

$70 dollars for the same game with a fresh coat of paint is a JOKE.

@dirtydyk: waiting for it to have a much smaller player base is a funny argument

@philip6k: What's the point of a large player base if parties are limited to 10v10 and 6v6?

Advanced Warfare is 10 years old and I can still find full games.

The whole point here is that the games are not worth $70. Or am I the only one here that notices that the maps are the same from game to game?

They replace a bush with a wall, but they're the same regardless.

cheaper then the others then, that's what we payin in swe or more for standard games. 5 hour campaigns, I might buy it when it is on sale under 20 , 10 years from now.

Isn't this standard pricing for an AAA full package game?

I'm more pissed at them asking 20 bucks for +5 years old CoDs with dead mp.

Ever since CoD went mainstream with Modern Warfare in 2007 there have only been two games that were universally considered "bad" by the fanbase. Infinite Warfare and WWII. Some came close to a portion of the fanbase. Ghosts, Black Ops 4, and Cold War. But those along with all other CoDs there are haters, crybabies, and fans.

With 10s of millions of players for each game of course you are going to always see remarks online of this sucks, that sucks, its played out, or whatever. There are just so many people buying it.

I've moved on from the franchise for the most part, other than the MW entries. I still buy those. I wouldn't miss it if I skipped out on it though. But those that are tired of CoD or are upset for some reason that they keep pumping them out you really have to take your emotion out of it and see that the games are excellent for those that are into that type of game. Other than MTX nonsense there really isn't anything "wrong" with the majority of entries in the series.

Also, since people say it's more of the same and not worth your time, the servers for the recent years of CoD are still on and available to play. You should not feel compelled to buy a new game if you are confident its the same stuff over and over (it is). If you are upset over cosmetics and such not carrying over I get it, but you are falling into Activisions trap by caring about it/buying them in the first place.

@noodles227: wait, Infinite Warfare was bad? But I got a sweet deal out of it :(

Oh well, I liked Ghosts, so it can't be that bad to me.

Okay, let's be honest with ourselves her.

Who REALLY thought Activision was really going to break their call of duty release streak for a company merger?

Weren’t they originally saying that this was going to be a $50 release, considered premium but not a full fledged sequel? Could have sworn…

They must have slapped something together real quick this year. Unless this has bigger MP maps, then no thanks. I despise the forced corridors and typical three lane structure. Make it interesting for once.

@matty_6666Same. That's why I get my CoD games at steep discounts. Can't get too mad at a $60 to $70 game I spent $20 bucks on.

MW2 still feels new, and still has room to grow within it's framework. Silly to release another full game this year.

@mattwoahyeah: the big con is it will still be MW2 in everything but name! The only thing they're changing is the 2 to 3 and for that privilege you gotta pay $70 😂
