Black Panther Might Not Get A Game, But He Is Playable In Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

Black Panther gets the Lego treatment.

In the past, it seemed like every superhero movie would have a tie-in game--often of questionable quality. That era seems to be over, as superheroes now frequently have their own game series independent of films, and this week's Black Panther release will pass without an accompanying game. However, you can play as Black Panther in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 starting now.

In addition to Black Panther himself, the DLC includes a bunch more content related to the movie. It comes with six new characters: Black Panther in his Vibranium Suit, Okoye, Nakia, Erik Killmonger, Ulysses Klaue, and Everett K. Ross.

Now Playing: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 - Black Panther DLC Pack Trailer

In addition, the DLC pack adds a new level to the game related to the movie. According to a press release, the level takes place in the Kingdom of Wakanda, and "players will take the legendary Wakandan Super Hero and his sister Shuri on a dangerous mission within the darkest depths of their homeland."

The pack is available today on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $3. It's also available as a part of the season pass, which costs $15 and comes with several other character packs. As for the film Black Panther, it hits theaters this Friday, February 16. While you wait, you can check out our feature on Black Panther's Wakanda Kingdom and be sure to read our Black Panther review.

Black Panther, Shuri, Killmonger, & Klaue are also playable on the mobile game Marvel Future Fight.

Don't know about Contest of Champions, don't play it.

You know, I'm drawing a blank on the last superhero movie tie in game we've gotten. Amazing Spider-Man 2 maybe? I don't think Marvel Studios has had a game tie in since Ironman 2 possibly.

@lionheartssj1: the problem with superhero games is them being tied into the movies.....

best hero games are in no order, X-Men Legends 1 and 2, Marvel Ult Alliance [I didn't play part 2], DCUO, Injustice 1 and 2, Marvel War of the Gems for SNES/Genesis, X-Men the arcade game, Spiderman & Venom in Maximum Carnage SNES/Genesis, aaaaannnnd though not my bag really definitely the Marvel v capcom games [I kinda liked MVC2 and 3 but I like Injustice way more]

the spiderman games have all had major issues, either the devs don't know what they're doing or can't tell a story or tied to the movies [and in turn are predictable] or offer fracked up situations that make no fracking sense.....the new Spidey game could be pretty good IDK.....it's the first one that i'm genuinely interested in, in years....

@iammcgruber: 1 those weren't based on movies and 2 yeah they kinda were sh**t games exept Arkham Asylum.....

the first game was well done and well paced, it was linear yet allowed exploration....great game, from Arkham city they got to be way too big, more action oriented. less detective or stealth sections and the battles were all the same thing, whack a mole or fight the big massive giant guy 10X your size and an ongoing story that really should have been something different each game....

look at mass effect, first game set the stage and was the best RPG of the series, game 2 had you working for the enemy, fighting a mysterious enemy and game 3 people were wary of you and you were trying to get everyone together to fight this big war.....each Mass Effect game was different, with a different story arc yet fed the overall massive story...

with Arkham I may as well just been playing GTA in the end.....or assassins creed cus that's what the games were after the first one....

@MJ12-Conspiracy: They weren't based on movies, but you werelisting games that weren't based on movies either so I thought we were just talking superheroe games in general. I actually enjoyed the arkham games, 1 and 2 being great and 3 being so-so. As for Mass Effect, i stopped after 2 to be honest. I tried 3 for a bit but just kinda got bored and never finished. Definitely glad I didn't buy andromeda.

@lionheartssj1: Sounds about right. I think that's been a good thing too.

Feels strange though, right?
