The Best Controller For PC In 2024

These excellent gamepads are a great alternative to playing PC games with a mouse and keyboard.

According to Steam's latest hardware survey numbers, over 15% of Steam players play with a controller each day. While that may surprise some PC gamers, it makes sense. Gone are the days when the keyboard and mouse were the sole gatekeepers of the PC gaming realm; as more PS5 and Xbox games get console ports and portable PC gaming powerhouses like the Steam Deck become popular, playing PC games with a traditional controller is more viable than ever—in fact, many games even require it.

If you've found yourself needing to outfit your PC gaming setup with a controller, you're in luck--Prime Day 2024 takes place July 16 and 17 this year, and the weeks leading up to Amazon's big sale event is the perfect time to start shopping for a new gaming controller on PC. But before you go off checking Amazon's early Prime Day deals for any old PC-compatible gamepad, let's go over our list of best PC controllers ahead of Prime Day 2024. The list includes everything from pro-style controllers and retro gamepads to arcade sticks, racing wheels, and more. We expect some of these devices to go on sale during Prime Day, but even if they don't, they're all worth picking up, even at full price.

I feel like they need to make a wider variety of controllers, it's kinda embarrassing. The Logitech F310 is the only controller with a D-Pad of its type (maybe it's patented), and it hasn't received a revision in like decades at this point. They need to fix the bad triggers and add rumble to the wired version. What are they doing?

I still use a PS2 controller and I'm happy with it, but it's like... why no alternative? I have to run it through XOutput (hard to set up the first time), which makes Windows think it's an X360 controller. That way it's compatible with every game. Nothing comes close to this controller to me... I'll probably still be using it in 30 years at this rate, unless Nintendo cooks up something better for their next console but I doubt they will.

The dual sense PS5 used to be a pain, but with any bluetooth adapter, Windows updates with proper drivers, steam recognizes it, and most games in the last few years work just fine. And more importantly takes advantage of the dual sense features, including speaker in the controller, and force, and haptic.

I still prefer the layout of the xbox controller with look and move on different planes, but I can get used to either in a few minutes. I like the 8th or 9th gen xbox controllers on pc.

I prefer console controllers as they just work, and work with most games. Easy to replace also. And while stick drift is a problem, I have not had any problems in the last few years or heard much around friends and work either.

--- Basically, if you already own console controllers 8th gen or 9th gen, use those. The $150 controllers above just seem too expensive, and if your super hardcore gaming.... you will be using m/kb anyways. Of something like a racing wheels or flight controllers.

fyi- I use a dual gig network card with bluetooth - one for server, and hardline for network internet) the bluetooth is 5.2 tp link. AT work I have a 5.0 bluetooth adapter usb 3.0 I think. I have had no issues myself with bluetooth, it works just fine. My mouse and keyboards are lightspeed wireless via usb adapter logi. Both were not much, like $10 to 20$ off amazon or newegg.

Currently using the PowerA Fusion Pro 2 Wired Controller on my PC. It is really good and all games that I have used it with have no issues. The back paddles are good and the build quality is excellent, with a weighty feel and for someone with wide hands, is a good choice of controller to purchase.

Much cheaper than my previous Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller and is still going strong after about a year of use now. The Xbox controller only lasted 9 months before I started to have issues and sadly that was my second Xbox Elite controller that happened with, so I will be using these PowerA Controllers for the forseeable future :)

Switch pro controller rated best for ergonomics, a "best first party for playstation" category, three 8-bit do controllers while not a single Gulikit. This list is a joke.

Seems this is an advert for 8bitdo. Those controllers have extremely bad ergonomics, with your wrists bent to much for a long game, you'd end up hurting yourself.

i think the best controllers that you have from nintendo/sony/microsoft and buying a 3rd party wireless usb adapter that can do xinput and sync your favorite controller on to it for pc is better.
