Battletoads Is Making A Comeback, This Time In Graphic Novel Form

Like any persistent rash, pimple, or zit, Battletoads always pops up when you least expect it to. While the last game was released back in 2020, you can check out a new adventure starring the toad trio in graphic novel form. Available now, this paperback prequel fills in the blanks of what the gang has been up to over the last couple of decades.

Written by Simon Furman--who is well known for his work in the Transformers franchise--and illustrated by Sensational She-Hulk artist Andres Genolet, the one-shot graphic novel sees the Battletoads travel the universe in search of the Dark Queen as they seek to finally end her tyrannical reign. Taking a detour to participate in The Grand Fistival--a battle royale that has gathered the strongest fighters in the universe--it's not long before the trio discovers a secret plot that threatens to tear them apart.

Graphic novels--and manga series--based on video games have become a popular sub-genre in the comic-book industry lately. The odds are pretty good that if you have a favorite video-game series that you'll find a print adaptation of it, and one of the more prolific examples out there is The Legend of Zelda. You can pick up several graphic novels and manga paperbacks based on several eras of the franchise, or if you prefer something darker, the Bloodborne and Dark Souls comics are pretty great as well.
