Batman: Assault on Arkham animated movie based on the games gets a new trailer

Batman and the Suicide Squad try to stop Joker from detonating a dirty bomb in a new animated feature.

A trailer for Batman: Assault on Arkham, an animated feature based on the Batman Arkham games, has been posted to YouTube.

First announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, Batman: Assault on Arkham, is one of DC Universe Animated Original Movies’ (generally well-liked) direct-to-video productions. According to the trailer, the movie follows Batman as well as Task Force X, a group of Batman villains also known as Suicide Squad hired by the government to take on dangerous missions. The two are trying to stop Joker, who’s still imprisoned at Arkham, from detonating a dirty bomb hidden somewhere in Gotham City.

The movie also features voice actors from the games like Troy Baker as The Joker (who stepped in for Mark Hamill in Batman: Arkham Origins), and Martin Jarvis as Alfred Pennyworth. Kevin Conroy will reprise his role as Batman.

Batman: Assault on Arkham will release digitally and on blu-ray.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Which is exactly why I wish they'd stop trying to make live-action DC feature films. Give me a full-length, theater-release animated movie like Mask Of The Phantasm. This direct-to-video stuff really could do so much more for the brand if they had a bigger budget, more time, and appeal to someone other than the most die-hard fans.

First of all, why doesnt Deadshot look like Deadshot from the Arkham games?

Secondly, when is this in the timeline? Harley is with Joker through Asylum and City - is it after Origins but before Harley's costume change or something?

I enjoy the DC Animation Universe very much. The Dark Knight Returns had a scene with Batman fighting the Joker, and it was one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever scene in a movie, animated or live action. The fact that an animated movie(and one based on American Superheroes on top of that) can make you feel so uncomfortable was very special in my eyes.

I'll give it a shot. I've always liked the DC Animated stuff, and Under the Red Hood was a very good Batman movie that looks kind of similar to this. Also John Dimaggio was a surprisingly good Joker, wouldn't want him doing it all the time though.

Not sure why some people think this look like anime. It's very clean animation with high production values but stylistically it really bears no resemblance imo. And I watch a lot of anime. It's a western cartoon through and through.
