Earth's Mightiest Heroes will test their pinball mettle this spring in a new package of tables from Zen Studios. The developer today announced Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

Save the universe! With pinball!
Save the universe! With pinball!

A four pack of new pinball tables, Avengers Chronicles will be headlined by a virtual machine based on the upcoming Avengers feature film. The remaining three tables in the pack will be based on popular Marvel storylines, including World War Hulk, Fear Itself, and The Infinity Gauntlet.

While World War Hulk and Fear Itself are inspiring games for the first time, The Infinity Gauntlet has shown up a number of times in Marvel games. Capcom adapted the story for both the arcade fighter Marvel Super Heroes and the Super Nintendo action game Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems. More recently, the story arc served as an inspiration for Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet.

Avengers Chronicles will be available as a stand-alone download for the PS Vita and as downloadable content for the Xbox 360's Pinball FX 2 and the PS3's Marvel Pinball.

I have to admit that I seriously enjoyed both Pinball FX games... I probably haven't played a real pinball table since I was a kid, but these are simply well-designed games (and inexpensive too).

Pinball tables are the best kind of micro-transaction. Much better than hats and keys. Shut up and take my money, Zen!

I liked the game, but never bought the other tables, and won't be getting these either. its a fun game...but not worth pumping more cash into. its a nice easy fix for keeping entertained for a minute, but i'm fine with the base tables myself.
