Astronauts Watched The Martian on Space Station This Weekend

The movie doesn't come to theaters on Earth until October.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station were given an advance screening of upcoming Matt Damon space movie, The Martian. Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren tweeted about it, with Lindgren saying, "What a treat to watch The Martian while in space and see reflections of our own journey to Mars."

Lindgren and Kelly have read the Andy Weir novel that serves as the basis for The Martian and Lindgren said in an interview with AP that he was hoping to have a copy of the film beamed up to space. The astronauts also spoke by phone with Damon, who was visiting NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The earth is not a globe and there are no astronauts in space just like evolution its all a lie ! Its ironic they claim to watch movies in space knowing that whole pretense of being on a space mission is just as much fiction as the movies themselves.

Considered how absolutely god-awful the book is, they look to have done an okay-ish job with the film..

Honestly, if you're stuck in space for weeks/months...why the F would you want to watch a movie about MORE isolation in space?! That's like showing U-571 to a sub crew or A Perfect Storm to fisherman working on the Berng Sea. Doesn't make sense.

@xcollector:

You're assuming Gamespot actually has gaming news anymore. Now it's all TV and political garbage.

"What's that Gamespot? ...Reese Witherspoon passed gas as she walked by a Gamestop in Burbank?!"...Radical! Put that in tomorrow's news Eddie Makuch!"

So Uh what does this have to do with games again? Now if you had told the astronauts had gotten the chance to play Halo 5 in space then I would have agreed with this articles inclusion on GameSpot but as far as I am concerned the way the article is now this is pointless bullshit that should not be here what is this IGN?
