Amazon Prime Members Now Get Free Cloud Games On Luna

Devil May Cry 5 and Ghostrunner are just two of this month's free Amazon Prime cloud games.

Amazon Prime members in the mainland US can play some games for free, as long as they have a high-speed internet connection for cloud gaming. Amazon is now offering access to a small, changing selection of games to anyone with an Amazon Prime account.

This month, Amazon Prime members have full access to Devil May Cry 5, Observer: System Redux, Phogs!, and Ghostrunner. Strangely though, there's another deal taking place over the course of a single week this month. From March 8 to March 15, Prime members can also play Immortals Fenyx Rising. Every game besides Immortals Fenyx Rising will stop being available by the end of the month.

Next month, Prime members will get access to four more games for free. King of Fighters '90 Final Edition, Amnesia Rebirth, Tracks: Toybox Edition, and Mortal Shell are all being added to Amazon Prime's Prime Gaming Channel in April. These free games are all in addition to Amazon's regular free Prime Games, with this month's including Madden NFL 22. If you're not a Prime member but want to check out these freebies, new subscribers can get a 30-day free trial. You'll get to keep this month's batch of downloadable free games and see if you like Amazon's cloud gaming service.

Along with the free games coming to Prime members through the Prime Gaming Channel, paying Amazon Luna customers are getting more free games themselves. A new retro channel has been added to the service that gives users access to a whopping 46 games, including Street Fighter 2, Joe & Mac, Contra Anniversary Collection, and Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

For fans of party games, Amazon also has a new Jackbox channel for users to subscribe to. Costing $5 a month, subscribers to Amazon's Jackbox channel get access to every single Jackbox game that has ever been released. For those counting, that's a total of 41 party games across all eight Jackbox Party Packs.

That's cool. Still not touching it.

Maybe some day we'll be ready for it, but for now I think we should still focus on movies and film because there's plenty of work left to be done on that front.

Let's not put the cart before the horse and try to do games, eh?

I tried it, while not for me, it has promise. The Luna controller is different, and may be the future of even console gaming controllers. It connects directly to their servers shaving off some lag, not a lot but enough to offer some of the best cloud gaming input. We at work hardly noticed much difference.

But the best it can offer is 1080p gaming, right now, the game library is large but lackluster with a ton of mobile ish games. The way I consume games does not work well with subscriptions, I randomly obsess with a game, new or olds ones, with no rhyme or reason, and play to completion. Even with a couple of hundred games offered, if it is not on the list, then it is just a waste of money.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a great game. A lot of similarities to Breath of the Wild but with better quality of life gaming features, cheeky humor, and believe it or not arguably better puzzles. The combat can be both interesting or simplified if you want to really power up your character. Overall it's really enjoyable and I'd recommend checking it out.

Not bad. Might be able to get more friends into gaming this way. All they need is a controller…

@Keivz_basic: You can use a phone as the controller, or the LUNA controller for less lag.

@mursexxx: Well there is a bit of tech behind Luna that beats out Stadia. For one thing, the Luna controller connects to a server.... not the firestick, computer, or monitor but the controller itself bypasses some network router and allows the controller to talk directly to the server shaving off 16ms-40ms. Yeah that is not a lot but, it was a really smooth gaming session with much less lag, if any.

Still though the library of games, while large, is kinda boring and not much to offer. I just do not see it going anywhere, but unlike google stadia, if it is built into prime membership it could stay a healthy alternative. It may not be for everyone (not for me), but it might work for some.
