After The Crew Was Rendered Unplayable, Its Sequels Will Be Preserved

You'll still be able to play The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest when their servers eventually shut down.

Ubisoft has announced that it will be adding offline modes for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. The company announced this along with its Year 2 plans for The Crew Motorfest.

"...Ubisoft Ivory Tower committed to long-term access for both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest, ensuring that both games will be playable for many years to come, including in an offline mode coming in the future," Ubisoft said in a statement.

Motorfest's Year 2 starts on November 6 with Season 5 and players will get access to the entire map of Maui for free. There are three Seasons in Year 2, which will have Made in Japan Volume 2 and sees the return of neon-filled races, events, and locations.

Year 2 will also add The Chase Squad, which is the game's PvE content. Players can hunt down racing rivals across the game's islands. Those who own the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game will receive access to The Chase Squad as part of the Year 2 pass, as well as unlock 20 additional vehicles.

The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest receiving offline support is crucial because the online servers for the first Crew game were shut down back in March after 10 years of support. The Crew is now rendered completely unplayable because it requires an internet connection, even for its single-player content.

The Crew Motorfest was released on September 11, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Don't fall for this crap. It's a good thing being done for the wrong reasons. Ubisoft is trying to earn cookie points in the hopes that this temporary concession will make people forgot why they are making that concession: There's an active campaign to make what they did with the original The Crew illegal, and it's gaining enough traction to worry them. If that fails, don't be surprised when The Crew 3 and other Ubisoft titles continue to be shut down in the future, let alone other publishers.

I encourage anyone reading this article to check out: https://www.stopkillinggames.com/

Doubly so if you are a citizen of the European Union, so you can sign the ongoing petition that Ubisoft is starting to fear.

@vr20x6: is there any chance you could forgive them? Maybe if they took a 180 (whatever the hell that means) and did what you asked?

I’m genuinely curious. What are we looking at for a redemption? Honestly I don’t think they actively hate gamers, I believe they’re indifferent to our feelings. We keep wasting our time bitching and moaning at a black mirror live they owe us something.

Take all your energy to a non profit and change the world.

@greatquantum: I'm already doing the last one. I will spend my effort on any Stop Killing Games initiatives. Gaming history is being destroyed by central servers of live service games being shut down, and by more companies than just Ubisoft. Ubisoft is just at the center of it given the recent blow of The Crew being shut down and their awful track record with their own "director of subscriptions", Philippe Tremblay, saying he wants you "feeling comfortable with not owning your game." This is a direct quote.

I really don't care what Ubisoft voluntarily does to try to redeem themselves. It doesn't matter. Their actions here can at best expected to be a one time courtesy (assuming it's not hot wind, given this is a pinky promise with a vague "coming months" timeframe and zero binding duty to actually follow through). That won't be the case for them or any other publisher if the movement is successful. It will, by law, make it compulsory to not remotely brick products they sold.

And you're already seeing the beginning of it. Ubisoft didn't care until we had the palpable threat of this initiative being on track to succeed. Gamers need to band together and make this happen or we very well may never have another chance at protecting your consumer ownership rights or to reliably preserve these games for ourselves and future generations.

If only Ivory Tower was allowed to add an offline mode to The Crew. They programmed it into the game, they have the ability to patch it into the game like they did with The Crew 2 and now The Crew Motorfest. But oh wait, I forgot, Ubisoft is too delusional to realize that you have every right to own the game, not just a license to PLAY it.

Wow, since the announcement of Assassin's Creed Syndicate I haven't heard any good news from Ubishit until now lol. Honestly I expected they would shut down Crew 1's servers for before they shut down lots of online aspects of their older games and because of it I wasn't buying The Crew Motorfest. For the same reason I didn't touch any Forza games too. I bought The Crew 2 for I expected its servers would shut down so I sucked the game dry but it's really a good news that the game can be played offline so I might buy The Crew Motorfest because of it but only after they add offline mode to both games and then I will join my brothers and sisters in the game as the proud The Watermark Crew™ from closed alpha and beta. :DDD
