Activision Promises To Fix Call Of Duty Amid Negative Feedback For Warzone And Vanguard

"We hear you, and we feel your frustrations."

Activision has released a statement in which it acknowledged the frustrations some players are reporting across the suite of Call of Duty games, promising that fixes and improvements are coming.

Posting on Twitter, Activision said, "We hear you, and we feel your frustrations."

"Our teams are hard at work addressing the issues that are being experienced across Vanguard, Warzone, and Modern Warfare. Updates are being deployed as quickly as possible. We want everyone to have a seamless experience, no matter which games, game mode, or platform you play on," Activision said.

The company said player feedback is "critical" to the development process, and the company told fans to keep an eye out for upcoming changes.

For Warzone Pacific, Activision said it has a number of known issues it's investigating right now, including console performance across Xbox and PlayStation, as well as a bug causing some skins to appear as invisible. Developer Raven Software is also tracking an issue with freezes pertaining to Buy Stations.

For Vanguard, Sledgehammer said it will make further changes to weapons and equipment, while it will fix issues related to the Attack Dogs killstreak, as well as problems related to challenges. Sledgehammer added that it is working on fixes for party-disconnect issues with matchmaking and is looking to improve the diversity of map rotation. For Zombies, the long-awaited addition of a pause option is coming.

The Call of Duty series is expected to grow again in 2022 with the launch of Modern Warfare sequel from Infinity Ward reportedly focusing on Colombian drug cartels. Additionally, Activision's Solid State Studios is developing a new Call of Duty mobile game.

All of this is happening as Activision Blizzard faces a lawsuit from the state of California over alleged discrimination and sexual harassment of women.

Out of all the "games as a service" games that shouldn't be, COD should be. Just make one game and update that one, chance time periods we really don't need continuity in our Call of duty games. I'm guessing the majority of your player base doesn't care about the story. Combine all of them into one game give us all the maps and add to that game. Call it Call of Duty Generations or something like that almost everyone will be happy.

as long as i could keep playing mw2019 without any problems on the ps4/ps4 pro and ps5 until i buy mw2022 on pc - until then, raven software better mess up the update during vanguard's seasons.

Stop giving ATVI money, people. That includes Blizzard.

Way-back-when, South Park inserted a fake ad in an episode where the advertiser is clearly phoning it in, and ultimately says, "F U; you'll buy it!"

That is incredibly accurate when looking at Activision, Blizzard, EA, DICE, and UbiSoft. Grow a pair and stop paying them.

Havent touched warzone in 2 months. Other games deserve my attention and warzone is not one of them

Good for them. Now if only Dice / EA had the same sentiment over the worst game of '21 (and possibly EVER): Battlefield 2042.

You can't fix something that was designed by people that don't know wtf they're doing. Fix every glitch in the game, and it won't change anything because the core design is a mess.

@ahpuck: To be fair... I'm not sure that it's completely being air headed.

Honestly, I really do think that what it is with games like CoD is the frog-in-a-pot scenario: the water gets hotter and hotter and hotter and the frog keeps sticking around because it's such a slow worsening that they don't even notice it until the water finally boils and it's dead. They just haven't noticed how little fun they're actually having anymore.

I also think that part of it is also nostalgia for past games and fun times with friends that folks keep sticking around and throwing money at it in the hopes that those times will come back again some day.

Yes, both "arguments" to stick around seem really obvious to those of us who have gone through this cycle before or even in some cases are just standing on the sidelines watching it all but-- again, it's like a bad break up: we can't do it for them.

All we can do is just keep pointing out that things are really far worse than they're telling themselves that they are until they hopefully at long last make that realization for themselves and snap themselves out of it so that they can finally, at long last, walk away to find far, far, far better out there.

Because it's there, we know that it's there-- we see it every day but they just don't right now. Sadly, they're just too busy dealing with the pain and aggravations of what they're stuck in to look around and see it just yet.

@ahpuck: I don’t get it myself, but I guess most of them just find the fun outweighs the negatives OR they are really uninformed and poor consumer.

I don’t like COD, but I really enjoyed Skyrim, Witcher 3, the Division, and Cyberpunk 2077. I never pre-order and I wait until the worst bugs are fixed. So when I buy the game, it is in a state that I know I will enjoy. So, when I do give feedback, I’m not salty and mad, I’m just trying to make it even better.

So, I’m guessing for a lot of folks that really love COD, it might be similar. Though I have little sympathy for folks that buy the game without informing themselves, and then rant and rave about how they are a victims. I’m not absolving game companies that produce poor products, but the best way to fix that is to not buy the game until it is in a state that you find worth the money.

@Thanatos2k: That's why I want them to go under so badly. Because people have to realize. They haven't really made many stellar projects. For all the money they've been getting.

In the past decade, we got Advanced Warfare, Overwatch, WoW Legion, and MW remake.

Keep in mind scumbag EA gave us BF 4, ME 3, DS 3, Titanfall, BF 1, Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, and SWJ: Fallen Order in the past decade. And they're seen as the more scumbaggy ones.

The company that's doing it for the money more than anyone else. Made more quality games than blizzard who isn't.

So.... Lemme see if I got this straight:

Graphics don't work

Store doesn't work

Skins don't work

Missions don't work

And there's basic parts (such as a pause button for example) that are entirely missing

For not one, not two but threegames?

...

(Slides beer across the bar and leans on it)

Listen my friend:

I know that she was hot and awesome in the beginning when you were going out every night and all but, you gotta face the facts here-- CoD just ain't worth this.

I mean, she takes all your money (not to mention is constantly bugging you for more every day), demands all your time, breaks everything, has put on way more weight than can even remotely be considered healthy-- much less sexy (she don't even in the danged drive anymore!), and any time you talk to her all she does is says that she's listening and never does a damned thing about all the problems that she herself causes!!!!!!

Seriously. I know that it's sad-- no one likes a break up but-- don't you think it's high time to move on? I mean, there's just sooo many cuter and more fun FPSs out there these days that'll actually treat you nice for once. Don't you deserve that?

Really. You work hard for most of the hours of your day for your money, don't you want someone that'll respect that? II know that she cleans up nice sometimes but this? This just ain't worth it my friend. It's just not. smh.

...

(Seriously though, I just do not understand why people keep paying money for these broke af "games" solely on name recognition alone-- if it don't work, it just don't work. Save your money and walk away. Just walk away. smh.)

@dlist4ever: <Gulps down half a mug of beer> <Slams>Yeah, we have plenty of picks in the sea.

We have dishonored over there. Classy lady, night owl but amazing regardless.

We have Rage. Now don't mind her blue fluffy mohawk and tattoos. She's worth every moment of your time.

Then we have her cousin DOOM. You can't tell by the dress and the green helmet. But she's thicker than a 10-ton boulder, with a face like an angel.

We have Half life. She's more pricey to get with. But is totally worth every penny.

We have Battlefield... She gained over 450lb within the span of 3 years. And gets plastered here every Thursday. And every time she's here. She tries to trick one of these men to take her home... She takes all your money and gives you the hardest time possible. Honestly, staying with her is like picking up a bill for someone else's home that you never visit. Ignore her.

And, Halo. <Amazed whistle> I don't know what she did. But, god, damn! All of it worked perfectly.

@illegal_peanut: (Slides another beer across the bar and pours himself one)

Exactly!

I wouldn't discount them older gals either, ya know. Okay, granted, they ain't as pretty as they used to be but most of them are more than capable of showing ya a good time! And what they lack in looks? Lotta them have some seriously unique character! I mean, I know it's a clique but, personality does indeed go a long way sometimes, ya know?

Okay, granted, can't always take 'em out to meet the buddies but, they're still always good for a nice night at home. Like, who can deny spending a little time with Wolfenstein or her sister 2 for a nice weekend? Or, if you're willing to go a little older... Bioshock's still rockin it.

Also, let's not overlook some of them smaller FPSs either. Good things can indeed come in small packages!

I mean, Dying Light maybe a little long in the tooth but, again, still a good time- and with her sister coming out here soon, can't say it's not gotten it into a lot of folk's heads to hit up the OG for a nice night out. So, she's definitely still partyin'!

Hell, there's even some kinky ones out there that'll show you things ain't no one else'll do too! I mean, don't let Splatoon's fashion sense fool ya, she does indeed got it where it counts.

So, yeah, you'd be amazed what you'll find if you stop obsessing over perfect makeup. Good FPSs're everywhere man, just gotta stop obsessing over the bad ones and just take a little look around. ;)

@dlist4ever: (looks up from the pool table, walks over to the bar, pours a shot)

ja, all right gents, I see you guys know some fine lady's, hell I've been out with some of em myself, but honestly bru, there is one that is just a notch above anything I've ever seen.

(drinks the shot, pours another)

Titanfall 2 is the name, we went out for while, was quiet a ride, but then she went through quiet a rough patch. Her old man, respawn, was an old bastard and wouldn't help her out, and with me living in Consoles, well it just wasn't working, we ended up parting ways.

(drinks the shot, grabs the bottle)

But oh boy was she great, she could move like no one else, her personality was simple and straight forward, she didn't a shit half the time.

(Takes a sip from the bottle, then a gulp)

She could be really tough at times but when it worked between us, it, it, IT WAS SO GOOD MAN!

(takes another gulp, finishes the bottle)

I mean... I just .... wish .... I could be with her again, and I heard now that she has just been fixed up with this... I don't know, therapy or operation or what ever.... but it's not available in consoles and her dad won't help...

(grasps for another bottle, @illgal_peanut moves the Jack Daniels away)

and I... don't know man there is.. is .. no one else like her and I... just want my BT-7274 back man!

(sobs on the table)

@bobbo888: Were. They werefun.

That's my point. Seriously, no snark and all joking aside: When the aggravations are in excess of the actual fun, it's time to drive on. I mean, I get the nostalgia, I understand the memories that we all made playing previous games but, at this point it's more of an expensive chore than actual fun and that's when it really is time to just walk away.

The whole point of games is to have actual fun and when a game is so laden with problems and aggravations that we're having more aggravations and problems than fun... It's just not worth it-- especially when you consider the fact that they are never going to improve so long as people keep shoveling them money for crap title after crap title.

I mean, seriously, if you added up all the hours and hours of aggravation and problems and all of the actual fun moments you're still having and you're coming up seriously short in the fun department, do yourself a favor and go find something else to play that'll have the opposite ratio.

It really is like a bad girlfriend too btw: if you're wasting your time and money on an abusive person that brings nothing but misery and ugliness into your life, you'll never have any good times that'll last and are also blocking yourself from the actually good times that you could be having.

They aren't going to change. They're never going to improve. And, you are never going to enjoy anything more than fleeting moments that come far too few and far too infrequently as long as you stay.

I'm sorry-- especially since I really have been there (for both scenarios!) but time and money are in short enough supply as it is to go throwing them away on a bad game-- especially when it's hard to say if you're even enjoying the game itself or time with the friends you're playing it with.

So, yeah, walk away. Just walk away. You'll be glad you did. Believe me.
