530,000 PS3s sold in November, half of 360 sales Kinect bundles

So, Kinect-360 bundles are outselling all PS3 console packages combined by about 30%? Sony of America has released this press statement in response: "Ouch. Seriously, big ouch." OK, MS. You've got your Kinect install base. Now, let's see some decent games.

I'll say it again an I'll say it as many times as neccesary. Just wait until after Christmas. As soon as all the little kiddies have their Kinects the Playstation is going to close the gap. Uncharted 3 AND Resistance 3.. Microsoft should be getting worried.

@steelmouth I assume you are saying that to just attempt to defend yourself. I know a handful of people who have replaced their system before Microsoft extended warranties after their system Red Ringed. Simple fact: People buy poor products all the time and you are wrong. Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics was on top-selling lists many times regardless of the fact that it is a sub-par game. A majority of the games for the Wii are low end, low production games that are put out to apeal to people that don't know about good games and will make purchases by judging the game by it's cover. The reason there are so many bad games for Wii is for the simple fact that they sell. It is often sad to read comments like yours. I understand when someone is a fanboy, but to be so blind as you are. I understand when someone may prefer one system to another, but to really honestly believe the PS3 is a bad product is sheer ignorance. Just to let you in on a secret; go to a store and take notice of all the Blu-ray movies on the shelves. The PS3 was a enormous help at making them so standard. There is a reason HD-DVDs died off and people that purchased a player were offered full refunds from stores like Walmart. P.S. Stupid is spelled with a D not a T.

@bluepuppy82 Once again you have yet to make much of an argument. You are complaining about the PS3's big games being sequels while the 360 is getting Halo Reach, Gears 3, Forza 4? There are still games that are new like Agent from Rockstar. When I asked you for solid reasons to buy a 360 you gave no reasons and instead just pointed a finger at the fact that the 360 has more sales. Though by that logic the Wii should blow the PS3 and 360 out of the water for hardcore gamers. Kinect has had a big impact on their recent boom in sales. Take note of the points made in @gamenerd15 comments. Microsoft had the hold on the American market and has been able to hold that grip through marketing and promotion. PC gaming is a far superior gaming experience yet it doesn't have the breakthrough sales the consoles do. So if it is the best then why isn't it selling the best? When @JulianBeamen420 stated that 2011 would be the year of the PS3 you dismiss it saying that the key games are all sequels. That only ensures they will do well, but the other side of that statement falls on the 360 also where the 360 lacks the 2011 game lineup it has had in years past to stand up the the PS3's exclusives. Also, games are more commonly offering PS3 only content for multiplatform games such as Dead Space 2 or Dante's Inferno. To sum it up I once again ask you. What big exclusive line up does Microsoft have that we are unaware of? What is that you know and we don't? What reason is there to buy a 360?

ALL that matters is that you have fun. do you have fun? then shut it and go play some games. the bundle is more holiday friendly for families and kids that's all.

The reason the 360 is beating the PS3 is the launch price of the PS3. No one could afford one for years... giving the Wii and the 360 the upperhand in this downturn Economy. I love my PS3, 360 and sometimes my Wii. They are all good systems.

@JulianBeamen420 I am not an Xbot. I bought a PS3 on December 27th 2006 for $600. When I say "rich kid's system" I mean that as how the general public views the PS3. You are right about the exclusives. The 360 has next to nothing next year so far. PS3 also had more games on the system this year and last year, but the 360 still outsold it. In America, the 360 still has the image of having a huge library of games, where the PS3 is still seen as too pricey. In 2010, The only big the games the 360 had was mass effect, alan wake, Halo reach and Fable 3. Fable 3 ended up not being as great as it was supposed to. Alan Wake fell short because of its ending. PS3 had God of War 3, Yakuza 4, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, 3D dot game heroes MAG and Gran Turismo 5. The 360 still outsold the PS3. I am just stating facts about the American market. If the subject of video games comes up in school, hardly anyone mentions the PS3. I know like 3 people who have one. The 360 is playing off of its earlier years. Everybody bought one and now others that are now just getting a system want the 360 because their friends have one. The PS3 has been better than 360 ever since early 09, but, Microsoft really has people under their wing with the shelling out money for online and the false image of having more games. I was just pointing out that it is no surprise that the 360 and Kinect sold more. The PS3 will never get a leg up in America.

@Byakugan93 I know it isn't a rich kids system but the media still portrays it that way. I just watched the movie grown ups with adam sandler and kevin james. Adam sandler's character is this rich guy with a family and the kids have a PS3 in each room in the move. Granted this is only one example. When you see people playing video games in TV shows, they are either playing with Wii or PS3. In family guy, what system did Peter buy for his family at the end of the one episode? The 360. The griffins are a lower middle class family. In the big bang theory what system do all the nerds play with? the 360. When certain TV stations have a sneak peak at some multiplatform video game after X show is over, what system do they show it on? The 360.

@bluepuppy82 Well 2011 is the year for PS3. We have all the Exclusives coming out in 2011 while 360 has nothng but Gears 3. I rememeber a certain a game that came out in 2009 that won GOTY, oh yeah it was Uncharted 2 so your statement means nothing. 2011 PS3 Exclusives: Uncharted 3,Twisted Metal,Little Big Planet 2,Infamous 2,Killzone 3 and Resistence 3 and many more. So we PS3 owners know its a huge year for PS3. Tell me again what 360 has? Oh yeah i forgot nothing..

If you are going to reply to him why not give him a reason to agree with you. Why not show him all the great games coming to 360 that would make a PS3 gamer want to buy one or use the one they already own more often? If you are tired of hearing it why not give some valid reasons as to why he should get a 360 and what secret you know of that lies in store for 360 gamers in 2011 that Microsoft hasn't made public yet?

@Gamennerd15 Just cause you cant afford a PS3 doesnt give the right to call it "The Rich Kids System". When the PS3 debuted no stores had them but Ebay. These people payed $1,500 and up to get there hands on a PS3 and you know what it was worth it. I payed $400 for mine 2 years ago. It runs great. Wish all you Xbots which have had 3 or more consoles RROD on you, would stop supporting Micrososft by buying a new system everytime yours break and switch to PS3 " The System that never Fails!!!!!!!"

@frazzle00 Continued... I have no interest in games like Gran Turismo or Forza. I am very excited for Gears but not Halo because of how they play. I am not overly excited for Killzone because of how it plays. Though I am very excited for Uncharted 3 after how amazing the second title was. Like I've said I am primarily a PC gamer and don't play on consoles much. Games are always far superior on PC compared to consoles. So I only play great console exclusives on my 360 and PS3. Like I've said a lot of the games that are exclusive for 360 are on PC leaving much fewer games for me to play on 360. I also don't get games on 360 with large online components because I won't pay the price of a game to subscribe to Live to use three or four games a year. Most games like Enslaved that are on only console I will buy on PS3 since I won't have to worry about paying for any online components. Though it is still clear that there isn't a very large line up of great exclusive titles for the 360 like there have been in the past years. I have been asking for months what great games there will be next year to make me dust off my 360 and pray it hasn't Red Ringed while I do it. What great games are in store for us on the 360?

@frazzle00 As primarly a PC gamer I was surprised at how much more precise the Moce can be in shooters like MAG or RE5, not as good as a mouse but still holds it's own. I also don't feel that very many people would consider Dance Central a hardcore game. I don't know where someone can figure it is aimed at the core crowd of the 360 that thrives on shooters. Heavy Rain on the other hand is without a doubt a hardcore game; that is an enhanced experience when using the PS Move. While the 360 may still have the diverse library it doen't mean they are all quality games. There are few quality true RPG titles for the 360, many of which are older from the consoles early days when the PS3 was doing very poorly. The best selling games on the 360 are shooters, sports, and racing games. Finally, whether you are looking forward to Forza or Gears more than Uncharted, Resistance, or Killzone really isn't saying much. It is very clear that you are a 360 fanboy and wouldn't be interested in a great title on the PS3 simply for that fact.

How many times have we heard this statement in the past? Wasn't 2010 suppose to be the year of the PS3? How about 2009? Same for 2008. Every year we hear this. I mean seriously, don't you all get tired of saying the same thing year after year? It really is starting to get annoying. Especially since "THE YEAR OF THE PS3" hasn't happened since all of you PS3 fanboys and girls started making this prediction.

@Raptors_81 I gave up 360 in Jan of 2009 I will never buy anougher gaming console that was made by Microsoft. Sony has led the Console Wars since PS1 debuted and there goin strong. Microsoft jumped in and made Xbox and 360 which both have failed. Sony Playstation will always be my console of choice from now. I refuse to buy anougher ****box. Even when the newXbox720 comes out i will not even think oncea bout buying it. Sony all the way.

Wow, the 360 outsold PS3 in America for the umpteenth time, what a surprise. The U.S. will always choose 360 over PS3 no matter what, just like Japan will always choose PS3 over 360. Kinect has that appeal the Wii first had. It's brand new because it is controllerless. People see the move as just a Wii rip off, so it is no surprise that the move has not fared well. Kinect is doing something different, so people are more attracted to it. PS3 will never outdo the 360 in America. The 360 is still known as having a "huge" library and the PS3 is still known as "the rich kids system."

people arguing about video games.. it's so funny to watch lol especially when you're someone that just plays video games to play. the fanboys play for 12 hours a day and spends the rest of the day on internet bragging about them.

The games released along with move and kinect were mostly disappointing.

Not surprising since motion control is basically for the casual gamers which see gaming more of a social activity for family, old people, children, teenage girls, parties, and fitness. Sony's move is the exact same thing as the Wii which casual gamers already own or could just get for much cheaper. There's no wow factor in it anymore. It's last year's technology. Gamers on IGN, Gamespot, and other gaming sites can scoff at Kinect all day long but that's not their intended audience. You might as well laugh at games on the iphone or ipad that continue to sell millions of units.

I'm kinda surprised the kinect has been selling so much better. i enjoyed using the move more, but there technically aren't any real games to play it on. i wonder how well it will sell next year. to me, the kinect wasn't that fun, maybe because i'm getting 'old' but i dont want to move that much for games and i can't see playing an fps or rpg with it and having fun. my little cousins find it to be a blast though. that makes me think the largest sales groups are young couples with young kids. so maybe that will be me in few years...

@Sirbobislost I'm well aware that these are based on U.S sales figures. But that doesn't matter because most PS3 Fanboys and girls have been saying the Kinect would fail period. That means in all area's. And based on these figures, it didn't happen. It's a success in the U.S. So again, these figures should shut up PS3 fanboy and girls. And keep in mind everyone, that the U.S is the biggest Video Game Market. So, to all that keep saying "These are just U.S Sales figures".... Remember, these figures are important you know. I'm sure Sony and Nintendo don't sit around the meeting table saying "These are just U.S Sales figures, so it doesn't matter".

Man I see alot of fanboy comments,as well as ones from just regular fans. I don't know what figures like this mean for sony,I mean last generation they had the best selling console,this time they're repeatedly selling half of what the other consoles are selling. However,this is no argument as to what is the best console. "Best" is an opinion in this case,as gaming is such a varied and flexible hobby. If you like the PS3,the numbers won't bother you,because either you already have one,or you plan to get one anyway.The same goes for Wii owners(me.) and 360 owners (me again.)As things stand,I don't plan on a PS3. I'm just not that excited for its mainstream titles right now,though it does have more variety than the 360,which has been disappointing me lately.

If you are enough of a fanboy to use sales figures to claim one platform better than another then you are committing an appeal to the majority fallacy and your "argument" is invalid. The majority (of people) believe p, therefore p is true is fallacious.

ryzrocks@ I live in North Europe in a state called Denmark. It's a big succes here. I think when you are rich, it's a bit easier to have a PS3 because it's more expensive. Therefore PS3 and Move is a bigger success here. Just a thought.

@monson21502 Continued... I have played the demo for the game Tumble and already it is something the Wii cannot do. Many games try and get close, but the PS Move's ability to track spacial movement allows the game to feel like stacking virtual blocks. After playing Boom Blox on Wii I can imagine how much better that game would be with that added accuracy, because one of the true flaws of that game is how poor it is to pull blocks towards you Jenga style since the Wii doesn't track that kind of movement well. True gamers really can't hope for any device to fail because that only means R&D dollars wasted and we ultimately lose. Though it is still fair to make predictions. I truly hope that there will be a game to make me buy a Kinect because how could I not, it only benefits me. Though I do not feel Kinect will fair well with the game selection that we currently know of and that the Kinect's momentum will soon slow. Move has some longevity through it's core game support. I don't imagine it to replace current means of play, but I guarantee some will prefer Move in games like Killzone 3.

@monson21502 All very good and valid point I agree with. I feel both Move and Kinect have lots of potential. Kinect's potential is great but unknown, because as of yet there hasn't been anything to show that great games will come. I don't mean fun games like Dance Central, but something really grand us gamers can thoroughly enjoy. Move has potential that the Wii missed. The Move's ability to track in 3D space and track more than just the motion allows for great possibilities. The tech demos for the Move showed users truly and accurately being able to manipulate objects within the game as an extension of their own hands.

As a ps3 owner, i would say ps3 has very rich library spanning best of what every genere has to offer. the only kind of experience i cannot have is super mario galaxy. but going by sega' s approach to sonic in sonic colours, it is possible. i will buy such title on day one if it releases on ps3. as for xbox, it has immense replayability with halo, gears, left for dead but lacks in generes like adventure, action adventure and titlez that can simply make your jaws drop ( gow3, uncharted2). And no, you cannot put up kinect games as justification for 360. atleast for now. who knows it can get turnaround just like ps3 did.

Toysolidier the 360 has a much bigger libary of rpgs. I bought the ps3 for its exclusives. I bought the 360 for everything else. oh, and I dont play many shooters. i play adventure games and rpgs. the pc i use for rts and rpgs only. starcraft 2 is one of the finest games ever crafted.

PS3 has alot of exclusives coming out in 2011 and 360 only has Forza 4 and Gears 3 im not ganna name off all the PS3 ones theres too many but thats why i have both systems.

@Toysoldier34, the problem is every1 has already forgotten the eye toy. the wii not so much. sony hasnt proven move can do better then what the wii does where it counts. and thats the games... since the wii was first and is still out and still being sold alot. sony shoulda had alot more good move only games out to prove that its better then the wii. little tech demo type games wont cut it like what kinect can get away with right now. sony copied some good and hasnt done nothing great ms copied something bad and made it good. sony thought they had this in the bag i bet. but their plan back fired in their faces:)

who cares, we are gamers here, we don't want motion control, we want controllers in our hands, keep bring the AAA titles and im good... and really if u dont have both systems or atleast planning to get both then u are missing out on great games.... back to more important things like how uncharted 3 and mass effect 3 trailers almost made me pee in my pants from excitemnt and joy... :D
